X when you said in your other thread that you sold your RR to do more MTB it inspired me to get back into the sport even though I live in lame ass MS with no mountains. Drove 2 hours last weekend to north MS to go ride some hills. I love that ****. Can't wait to take my trip back up to CO and tear up some mountains!!!
I'm about to turn 29 in march and I'm buying my first bike this summer so to hear that there are older riders on here makes me feel like I still have time :)

62, the older I get the better it gets. I can't remember any one wearing helmets in the 60s when I started riding. I started wearing a helmet and other protective gear in the 70s.
Oldest one so far by about 5 years, at 67 and several months. But definitely not the fastest, judging by some of the posts. However, I do have another bike which is more suitable for longer rides. Around 250km (or 150 miles) in a day is about my comfort limit on the CBR.
So all you youngsters of 50 years or more, there's hope yet.

I ride with quite a few guys that are my age, and 100% wear helmets.
Thoughts?
While I understand your point, I was not saying I never see older guys with helmets on. Its just the overwhelming majority.
Just yesterday I saw a guy with white hair on a cbr1000, he looked like he was having a good time. But no helmet.
I just thought it was interesting. Usually younger guys are the ones willing to risk death. But they're always fully geared up (could have to do with Florida's no helmet law requiring insurance too, most younger guys don't carry it)
my grandpa was riding his Boulevard at 85. my wife has my permission to put me out of my misery when i get to the point that i can no longer hold an M licence.

I see a guy every morning on my commute to work that has to be at least 65.
He is on a different bike every day. Everything from sport-touring to vintage cafe's.
My wife Peggy and I just celebrated birthdays last month (Nov.) and I turned 58 and she turned.......60.....but please don't tell anyone......it'll be our little secret. Anyway, we both ride and we are both Instructors with Sportbike Track Time in the Southern Region. Here are a couple of pics........she is on the blue 600RR and I'm on the black 600RR
Hopefully we will be able to continue to ride for many years to come. I've been doing it since I was 16, so.......going on 42 years
For what it is worth...........the number 55 on the front of her bike is there because that is how old she was when she did her VERY FIRST TRACK DAY.......about 5 1/2 years ago. She is my hero for sure!

If someone had told me when I was your age that I'd be having this much fun STILL riding my sportbike, I'd have n e v e r believe 'em.

thank you.......she is mine too. You definitely need to try a track day this coming year. I will warn you though, they are addictive. We did 14 this past year, with the last one being this past November, and I'm missing them already. PM me if you have any questions that I can help with. Good luck and .........relax, breathe, and have fun! :)

57 here and only started riding sport bikes 5 years ago after 30 years on Harley's. Still have a Harley, but it sits most of the time other than when I rode it to Indy in August to see the Moto GP races. Gotta love sport bikes. Plan to keep doing track days.
52 here and no sign off giving up two wheels anytime soon.
Hey Bimmer ... you should come ride with Bob and I sometime since you're in our area. We love to go ride East Texas. If you're game, PM me your cell number and we'll text you the next time we plan to go!
