To those saying use a backpack, in the state of Florida it's illegal to have it in your backpack without a concealed carry, even if going to the range. The statutes consider that readily accessible and you'd be fucked if the cop wasn't in a good mood. Gotta be in a locked compartment.
I'm assuming if you've got the concealed carry a backpack is fine, though.
I don't know for some reason i never carry - it's just there for home defense and target shooting fun but i don't blame anyone that does carry 100% of the time. Lots of crazy sickos in this country.
Better be safe then sorry i guess.
I think about it every time i hear something bad happens and i promise to myself i'll start but i never do...
Maybe if i buy Sig P238 it'll be i little more convenient then with the full size P226

Does anyone here with a CPL conceal carry while riding? And if so how do you do it?
I try to when I ride, if im riding with a backpack I usually have it in the compartment where the water bladder goes if you put one in. I just slide it down inside in a leather holster. I have not found a comfortable way to wear it on my person while still be concealed.
Anyone else? Stories? Ideas of your own?
Is this even a good topic? I've been wondering myself how others do it.
I carry all the time, and I Prefer in the waist band holsters. My EDC right now is a G27 which for those of you who do not know is a double stacked .40 caliber. Not supper slim or ideal for a person who likes to wear tight fitting clothes. Well, I wear tight fitting clothing and when carried properly you would never know. In the waist band FTW....
I was carrying a Khar CM9 in the pocket while riding once, I laid the bike down and landed on my side with the firearm and guess what? No boom, no bullet through the leg, the only issue was the magazine blew apart (base plate came off) and the rounds were loose in my pocket, btw I always keep one in the pipe.
FWIW, my glock rides in the waist band between the 4-5 o'clock positions. I use a cheap black-hawk (Uncle Mikes) holster. It goes on under my A*'s leather jacket and doesn't move until I make it.
For the people saying you wouldn't have time to use it, good for you, not a risk I will take. Also just because I'm riding my bike doesn't mean I don't have anywhere to go or anything to do once I get there.
One more thing, many of times individuals with concealed weapons came to the aid of others. Just because "big news" didn't report it doesn't mean it never happens.
Ride safe and shoot straight!

I think if people are debating carrying firearms in Forida chances are they have a ccw, unless your a criminal. besides, Lock your bag = locked compartment, people do it all the time in open trunks.

sig 238 is a sexy bitch but they are pricey just like the rest of the sigs, you can get an lcp for half the price. if you can afford the sig its the way to go but i love my lcp, either way look into it and start carrying like you said better to have and not need then to need and not have it, that $300 investment could save your life, your familys, kids, wife, girlfriends, friends or even a strangers or many peoples. its always a good thing to have with you.
and if you live in florida you better make damn sure its a white person who assault you or jessie jackson and al sharpton will go to war with you for defending yourself

I carry mine on my rr when most of the time. When i do i ride with my new agent in my jacket pocket and then move it to me holster when on my back when i stop and get off the bike. Im about to purchase a shoulder holster to wear as well for the winter.
Your up in Alaska the peper spray you guys use is for bears. We dont have bears in Texas we have that weak bell peper spray crap. So I use a P238 love that little thing. If you want one with a little more oomph the P938 is the same size in a 9mm. Sorry didn't see that someone had already put the P238 up.
Very very very few incidents occur like the one someone mentioned above where someone charges you with a baseball bat out of no where. And if they are within say 30 feet of you with a baseball bat or knife and charging you then regardless of where your gun is a human being can cover 30 feet alot faster than you can draw a weapon from your pocket or bag. So that argument doesn't make much sense either.
Maybe if the attacker is already running full out, but if the attacker is walking and decides to start moving towards me at a hastily pace, I'll have my gun out first, TRUST ME. That is why you're supposed to practice muscle memory........
I carry a Glock 26 in my waistband or a S&W642 in my pocket.
Both have problems.
G26 becomes exposed at high speeds - Canadian snow birds look at me pretty shocked when we come to redlights. (Locals give me a nod...some ask why I'm not carrying a G19)
The S&W only holds 5 rounds and requires me to unzip my pocket to grab it (with gloves). Not very efficient but I look at it if I ever use my weapon on my bike, its going to be in a situation where I have time to take my gloves off and grab the gun. Otherwise I'm goosing the throttle and getting the hell out of dodge.
I agree that a hard object on your side could be painful in a crash but only because I've had some experience with that. To the people saying you could fall and discharge your weapon, not possible in 99.9% of circumstances. They design and test guns with safety features for this very reason. I personally would keep my ccw in my jacket on my chest because statistically you have a very low chance of contact without your arms breaking your fall. In MA it would be pointless to put it in a tank bag because you would have to remove it in public every time you stopped anywhere and got off your bike which could excite people, and that's illegal according to the law.
I always worry about crashing and losing the gun only to be used in crimes later by whoever finds it
The odds of you being in a crash so bad that it knocks you out, your gun flying so far away that ems police, fire, and traffic homicide scene units don't find it AND a bad guy finding it are so infinitely small it shouldn't even be on your radar.

So are the odds of ever needing to use it for protection, but people worry about it anyways.

Or choose to exercise a right to do such, either way, either way. Most people whom carry, practice to always carry.
With the proper holster being worn properly such shouldn't be a worry, I could hang upside down with my OWB and still have retention. Throw on an IWB of your choice, secured to a belt, t-shirt tucked in over top, and your jacket over top and I could foresee it withstanding one hell of a slide. Even carried within a jacket, secured in pocket or liner, within a pocket holster. No worries.
If that's your concern I'd have just as much worry on how your firearms are stored within your home and vehicle as well to prevent them falling into the hands of thieves.
