"Winterizing" - Powder coating and BKmoto Headlights...
So living in NY kind of sucks 5 months out of the year especially when all your hobbies depend on 50 degree sunny weather lol. Just felt like starting a thread on what i am doing to my baby over the winter... Mainly blacking it out getting the swing arm, rear sets, passenger pegs, engine covers and some other misc parts powder coated.
Ill start with a shot of her at the end of summer this year...
Sleeping on the floor that night... lol
I had already wrapped the custom slip on and mid pipe so i decided to hit this as well...
Decided to just wet paint this even though it wont last...
Santa brought goodies... i got some stands off ebay as well that are to the left...
BKmoto angel eyes with red demon eyes... on the way :D
Headlights pulled apart and ready...
So i planed on matching everything to the frame of the bike which is kind of a black textured surface so i borrowed some chips and looked over the bike and came up with this...
Called on my parts and they should be ready for pickup tomorrow! :D I will get some pictures of the parts but i will not be able to work on the bike until Thursday night.
Also my BKmoto headlights didn't go so hot some of you might have seen the other thread i have made asking questions. I think i have everything sorted out. Had to buy some more parts and get some answers on the install but i should be all set there now too...
Well I got a call last night from the powdercoater and he explained that the new media they got in didn't really match the chip they gave me as far as the texture so i have to stop down there today before he coats my parts to make sure i will like it.... nothing can ever go smooth i swear lol.
Well I am picking up my parts from powder coat today and putting the bike back together tonight... except for the right engine cover as i am still waiting for a bearing we destroyed taking it apart. Also waiting on a master link for the chain. Pictures will be posted later on tonight. Also will be getting the new headlight parts in... hopefully i wont break anything else :D
So aparently they don't make a quick clip style master link for the oem chain? Might be looking into a new chain and sproket if this is the case...
Also trying to start the bike back up but its not firing... Do the headlights and signals need to be plugged in for the bike to start? Its turning over fine just not firing...
A few pictures... Starting to look like a bike again
you should be able to use any 525 pitch master link if you wanna reuse your old chain... the dementions should be the same.. if you wanna use the clip style master or rivet type

Awesome. Love the header wrap
As to no fireing. Its your bank angle. Its mounted on the front inbetween the headlights and it cuts off sprk and fuel if you tip over... your whole front taken apart exact same thing happened to me freaked me out too no worries

Headlights harnesses need to be plugged in for a couple reasons. Also as stated right above, make sure the bank angle sensor it placed right-side up (marked with an arrow on the back of the sensor). Had that problem last time I reinstalled my headlights, dumb me installed the sensor up-side down. Looks great and hope this helps!
So my tank cover is bugging me because of the stickers under the clear coat. I have been searching the net trying to find an all black tank and I have been unsuccessful. Does anyone know where i can get a tank cover like this? I rather not have to buy and repaint a used cover would like to find one that will match oem paint but no silly stickers... Also might buy a new gas tank lid/cover thing..... BLACK BABY BLACK!
After a few seconds of it running the damn bike started to smoke like mad thought i had done something seriously wrong and then remembered the header wrap lol....
I do hear a ticking coming from the front of the bike hoping its just the header settling with the wrap.... could it be the way i mounted the header maybe?
So i was able to complete one side of the headlight and was testing everything out... I am going to put 4 switches on these... 1=HIDs 1=Amber Eye 1=White Eye and 1=Red Eye This way i can switch up the look...
This is the only thing i am kind of bumbed about... you cant see the red demon eye when the amber eye is on...
Oh well, I should be getting the other red demon eye in in a few days... once i do, the headlights will be complete and i can put the bike all back together... Bike week here I come!!!!!
I believe there it would be Blues to blues, REds to Whites, and Then you need to ground your lights which I believe is the black wire on the harness. It's been awhile since I've had mine apart or dealt with the wiring but you should also have a ground for each of your lights on the unit if I remember correct.
There was no ground on the HIDs thats what was making me scratch my head... So basically i did what you explained but im not using the grounds from the harness at all at its working... tomorrow i will tuck everything nicely and take photos
