Well Mobil 1 syth has been know for some spun bearing issues with turbo'd Subaru's but there's also other variables that isn't broken down with those supposed problems.
Mainly most blame Mobil 1.

They can blame it all they want but I doubt if that is the issue if the oil is changed at the REQUIRED 3750 miles on the Sub.
Not only that, it has no relation to the Mobil 1 Racing 4T for Motorcycles as the 4T is a Full Synthetic.

Hmmmm .. What exactly does it say on the face of the bottle.. The only Full synthetic (and it's still only 30%) is the Extended Performance.. If it doesn't say Ext. Perf. on the bottle, at best it is a Hydro-Cracked and may just be a petroleum oil..

Never heard of it.
I usually go to the Honda dealer and I use the Honda GN4 Semi Synthetic 10w40 (gold bottle) for the summer and now that it is winter I put the stabil in the tank last weekend and I'm changing the oil with the regular GN4 crude 10W40 (black bottle) for the winter this weekend and change back to the semi blend in the summer.
I figure the bike revs twice as high as the car and the people making the engine should know what to put in it?
I've always thought about using AMS Oil but I'm usually at the mileage to change it and don't have the time to order it. They need to start selling that stuff in the stores.

This is one of those where you will hear "I used it for 68 years and 5 million miles with no problems"
Unfortunately, the Rotella that everyone has used, no longer is on the market and the Rotella available does not carry the minimum requirements set forth by the OEM. SG/SH JASO MA or MA 2

It doesn't make a difference as long as it has the JASO MA
If it does not have a JASO MA it should carry SG/SH not just SH, there is a difference.
But Shell has just updated the Data sheets and it looks like they now carry the JASO MA
So for anyone looking for an oil that just meets MINIMUM Requirements.. Go for it..
Personally, I will use AMSOIL as due to the extended drain interval alone, it is less expensive to run per mile and it is absolutely the best oil and filters you can buy.
Not to mention the side benefits of cooler oil temps, smoother shifting, fewer false neutrals, easier to find neutral and less wear.
Cost of ownership is reduced with AMSOIL.

Well, they may not be the best, but they are pretty good. If AMSOIL was not available, I would quite possibly run them too.

Thanks all..
Still have my PM saved with the price for 4 quarts & XX filters for xxx (whatever those values were) wil be ordering soon ... thank you

Not trying to start a flame war here, but the FSM says "API service classification SG, or higher, except oils labeled as energy conserving"
AFAIK the benfits of using "motorcycle specific" oil are mostly nonexistent marketing hype.
This is a good article on the subject.
BTW, I run Castrol GTX from Wally World and have never have an issue. It says SG on the bottle. If I were racing maybe I'd give it a little more thought, but I don't know how you guys can pay over 10 bucks a quart for whatever magic oil you use.

In the manual, at least the one I have copied here, it says an API Rating of SG/SH. A higher API Rating MAY be used if is has a JASO MA Rating..
This does not mean SH can be used. It must have the SG or SG/SH Rating.
There is a difference between Motorcycle Specific and auto/diesel oils. Higher ZDDP for wear, Higher TBN, Anti-Rust and Corrosion Inhibitors, Clutch performance improvers and in some, Specific Anti-Wear Additives for the transmission.
I have tested (oil analysis) different oils in my bikes and others and without a doubt, Motorcycle Specific oils fair better than non M/C
Always use a M/C Specific oil with a JASO MA Rating, better yet, MA 2, but never MB
