I always like RIDE articles and trust them. They seem comprehensive and transparent. Obviously being a British mag, not everyone gets the lesser brand gear in their area, so that the only thing that sucks about the article - only a few of the products apply to me! But its good that they tell you what to look for in a glove. Thanks for posting it up Moeman!

well after my cup of joe and a good morning read, i am ready to do some work, but before i go off to do that.

the ride articles are always the same...over the pond they have WAY more variety than we do in all aspects of riding gear. so most of their stuff is cool to read about, but unless you are willing to wait the rediculious amounts of time to get some of these products we have to go with what we can find.

so this comes to my next little soap box speach: WHY cant our mags do these types of reasearch projects? i remeber there was ONE that was good..it was a helmet review, it was SOOOO good that the mag lost a few of their vendors due to the results..NOW that is reporting!!! but the problem is they are far and few between, which limits the competive market between companies and then lowers the possibility for setting standards for protective equipment. (also these reports put common standards such as DOT and Snell under the microscope as well)

anyone have the link to that atricle? cause i am in the market for a new helmet, and wouldnt mind revisiting.

Yeah, it would be pretty cool to see some of these comparos in our mags. Oh well, living in europe i can get all sorts of mags.

I think I may pick up the held phantoms. They did better than my Dainese Duels and they are more comfortable from my experience.

I have the alpinestars gp plus gloves and they are the best gloves you can buy for the price IMO. they are a little warm for summer riding, but if you are concerned about all-around safety, go with those.

I do agree with you man and its simple money does all the talking
so most of our magazines shy away from doing such research articles
to avoid pissing off a potential advertiser which is a shame really
cause the benefit of the rider sure out weighs the financial benefits
for such magazines

I like articles like this but I cant help but think that its not a truly subjective test unless they test each one twice with 2 separate pairs to be sure results arent consistent within the brand. If a glove rips apart in one test and another identical glove holds together fine then the results are worthless.

Needless to say, there is a lot of good information in this article though and its a very worthwhile read. It also puts a hurting on the lurking idea that A*s gloves fall apart in a crash, which I find interesting.

I just got some AGV Sports GPR gloves($60, MSRP $120) from Travis at Helmet Depot at 301-874-1170. I had a pair of the Exocet model for a couple of years and they even came out looking good (minor scrape on the carbon fibre knuckles)after an encounter with a car and the asphalt.

These gloves rock. Extremely protective, comfortable, and durable.

Make sure you get a size larger than you usually would because they run small. They should fit pretty tight at first, until you break them in.

Retail $230. Ebay $170 - after shipping.

Need to replace my 2nd pair of $70 cheap gloves. So what is the next best thing compare to the A* GP Pro? Dainese Full Metal Racer? Anyone used one of these? I'm not really digging the metal on the gloves thou. Also how is the GP tech compare to the GP pro? Does it worth the $70 difference?

BTW I mainly use the bike to commute, and weekend twisties. No track for me yet.

Also how should the gloves fit? Really tight and let it brake in or a bit loose? Moe's link to the article no longer works.

I've tried a few different pairs of gloves. I have the Alpinestars GP Pro and the GP Tech. I thought the GP Pros were more comfortable and fit my hand better. I wear an XXL. I just got my new Held Titans today from STG. These gloves are at least 10 times more comfortable than any glove I've tried on or owned. They are warm but I'm very happy with the fit and quality even for $350. I like Alpinestars, have one of their race suits but these Held gloves are my new standard. I haven't tried RS-Taichi gloves on to compare just to be fair but their jackets are very nice. Oh and STG is great, the service and all the guys that work there are top notch as well.

I had a pair of the Astars GP Pro's and they were nice but I just got a pair of Cortech Adrenalines from STG and they are amazing. Way more comfortable and breathable. They just feel more natural on the hands.

I have a set of Komodo K-FX gloves that have been down 3 times. The seams are all still intact. Only damage is to the palm sliders, ground down & right side knuckle protector is rashed.

They make great gear.
