Aaron Clarke AKA Clarkie

Those who know & are friends with Aaron Clark ("Clarkie")

From RRW

"I wanted to let you know in case you did not hear that
Aaron Clark was hurt (Oct 10th) at PPIR (Pikes Peak
International Raceway), suffering an accident in a fast but
unusual part of the track for an accident. His
brother-in-law Scott Jensen told me there was only about 45
feet to an unprotected wall where Aaron came to rest. It
seems to be a single-vehicle accident without anyone else
involved. Another racer was first to the scene and helped by
performing CPR trackside until the medical team got there."

He has opened his eyes and responded to the voices of Tedi
and Scott. I can't go into the details of his injuries.
All I can say is it's bad.

Please don't try to call Tedi or Scott. THEY will give the
updates when they're ready to.

OR you can go to the Clarkie link

Thanks

Clarkie is a great guy and a one time member of this site......my thoughts are with him and his family

can you give us any details on how it happened? i race in the MoM series with clarkie and look up to him b/c he is damn fast and a good guy.

i have been following his recovery on the getwellclarkie site. and it seems he is doing much much better. he had hip surgery today and then they had to go back in and remove his gaul bladder. they will give him an MRI tomorrow to check on his internals.

I was walking back to my pit and I can see the turn in to turn 2 then all of the sudden I hear 2 skids then he slid up the bank and into the wall. From what I was hearing from everyone else is that he might have had a mechanical issue that caused him to lose control. The speed that he was going was around 100+ mph so seeing him hit the wall was truly concerning plus seeing CPR being performed track side I feared the worse. So I'm glad that he is improving on a daily basis.

i heard that the last recorded speed on his telemetry was 171 mph. but i am sure he scrubbed off speed before he hit the wall.
