I see that the third eye is lower on the 05-06...someone said the 03-04 headlights work but I read elsewhere that you have to have the 05-06 headlights to use the 05-06 upper cowl. Kinda confused....
Most of the Fairing and parts are interchangeable
If you want a 05/06 tail you need the battery tray them that year.
Front upper fairing are also interchangeable. You just need the air intake tubes that connect to the upper fairing.
i have pulled all the fairings except the front so i can not help you with that...im pretty sure that the 03-04 are not interchangeable with 05-06 so its all 05-06 or all 03-04 i dont think you can have 03-04 sides with an 05-06 front or w.e other combination... however as i said i have 06 rear,sides,lower and i assume front not sure how to tell...i know the subframe is diffrent on the 03-04 than the 05-06 so maybe i have an 05-06 subframe im not sure...but i do know that they fit on my bike and they are not rigged up so yes they do fit but im not sure what you have to do originally to get them to fit...as i said i bought my bike with them on it...
I went over 4+ years worth of posts on this forum with everyone saying the tail etc doesnt fit - everything fits! I read 1 post where RRTuned said he did it without changing anything so I went out on a limb and ordered an 05-06 set with an 03 front fender.
This is all you need:
05 seat
03 front fender
05 taillight plastic bracket($6 at RonAyers)
05 ram air ducts
05 windscreen
Could I use my 2003 rear fairing with all other 2005 fairings? Also since the third eye is lower on the 2005 upper do I need any new brackets for the upper?
Grrr I just ordered a new upper cowl and windscreen for my '03. If I would have known for a set of '05 ram air ducts I could have an '05 front end I would have definitely done it. They just look so much better than the '03s

If you could let me know the name as it shows on Ron Ayers that would be great. I see Cover, Tailight on Ron Ayers. Is that it? I think that is the last thing I need.
ok i own both and have taken both apart a ton of times here is the deal the sides and lowers will work from 03-06 but the tail and front will NOT.... here is what you would have to do if you wanted them too work the rear fairing would have a gap around the rear of the battery tray but thats not the big deal the deal is.....the trunk lock is located in the middle of the fairing on the 05 and the 06 where the lock is not on the 03-04 .... and as far as the FRONT...WELLL
YOU would need to replace headlight assy also with the intak tubes along with it and possibly the stay.... the reason is the small running light is attached higher on the 03-04 rather than the fairing goes down around it on the 05-06
Not true. The upper will bolt right up to the 03 (with 05-06 ram air ducts).
Headlights are EXACTLY the same 03-06. Go look up the part numbers if you don't believe me. (33102-MEE-A01)
You would need the 05-06 rear subframe and locking mechanism (for the trunk).
It bolts right up to the 03-04 frame.
Kinda pricey and hard to find right now on eBay.
Brand New, the rear subframe is somewhere in the region of $300-$350. You also need the 05-06 battery tray.
yes I just did it to my 03. The rear subs are totally different. My 03 Arata was not even close to fitting in the rear subframe of the 06. I actually had to shorten the can almost 4-5'' and still make a bend out of stainless to get the exhaust to work.
I just put 05/06 forks on my front end. I figured I might as well go the whole way, and i got 05/06 fairings with an 03/04 Tail cowl. So I HAVE to fit all my 03/04 components into an 05/06 front end.
BTW, I think the 3rd eye placement is EXACTLY the same. it's just an illusion due to the fact that the windscreen doesnt come down as far.
Never the less, I'll let everybody know how I get on with it next week!
Does anyone have pictures of the rear cowl when it's mounted to the subframe/battery tray. I am trying to mount the new rear cowl, but I think the previous owner had hacked off part of the battery tray and I am missing some mounting points. thanks.
to fit the 05/06 fairings on an 03/04 you need the rear subframe off a 2005/2006 cbr as the 05/06 tail fairing is shorter also the rear hugger from a 2005/2006 will not fit an 03/04 neither will the front bumper just did this swap

I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY MOUNTED AN 05-06 TAIL FAIRING ON AN 03-04 SUBFRAME.
I did it this past winter.
-You have to trim the sides of the battery tray
-You have to trim the bottom of the tail fairing for clearance of the passenger peg brackets.
-You need to buy the 05-06 triangles.
-I pulled some staples and trimmed my 04 seat. You don't HAVE to buy an 05-06.
-You need to fabricate a mount at the back of the rear seat "Hole" in the top.
-You should buy the tail light bracket. I made some out of aluminum, which was a total PITA!
I'll post some pictures soon. This took me a couple hours with a dremel, some stock aluminum, many swear words, and a few beers.
