I know there are TONS of write ups and but people CONTINUE to ask about them. So here you go, I just put a new slip on and thought i'd address the fender eliminator I had.

That a pretty good idea, I might move mine down there, I'm not really feeling it on the slip on bracket where I have it now.

yeah it def does look a lot cleaner, agreed 100%! I have the tripage plate holder with the leds built in so I just need something like that black bracket you used and move the whole thing down there, just hope I don't get any $hit from leos about it, I wonder if it's legal there

Yeah it's probably something similar here, worst comes to worst I can just move it back within 24hrs if I get ticketed and they'll throw the ticket out, no big deal.

how exactly did you do this though? i know the plate is mounted in the holes on the bar. is the bar bolted to the battery box? subframe? and what is the hinge for?

#9 ·
I didn't do it yet so I'm not sure what Brandon mounted it to exactly but the hinge is to angle the plate, helps make it more(or less) visable

The 90 degree bracket is attached to the bottom of the battery box.
The black piece of aluminum is attached to the 90 degree bracket.
And the plate to the aluminum bar.

I'll go out and snap a couple more pics. I think I have enough pieces to mock up another one with out pulling mine apart :)

cool, i think i get it. so you'll need to drill two holes or so in teh middle of the bar to mount it to the bracket correct? maybe cut off the curved ends to just make it a straight bar for the tag to mount to also?

dude, dremel them bolts off, i got one you can borrow if needed...

and yes, i also have the comp works FE, and have received compliments from LEO's reguarding how clean it is.

CA legal..almost

Real glad I found this DIY. When I bought my bike, it had a real crappy FE job on it. I kept the turn signals from the original FE job, and attached them to the bottom of the plate (as you can see) via a bracket that runs all the way across the bottom. I'm thinking about painting the bare metal around the signals to black, cause I think that might look cleaner. The plate isn't lit yet, but I'm considering getting Tripage's hugger LEDs. Just been lazy, and I don't drive much at night. I did measure this, and this does conform the California's "9 inch separation" rule. That was just kind of a perk, as I didn't care about that when I started doing this. I just wanted to keep the turn signals.

Also wanted to mention to anyone else interested in doing this that you're going to have to bend the F*CK out of the bracket it in order to get enough clearance between your hugger and license plate as the plate will hit the hugger when the suspension compresses. The bracket comes from home depot with a 90 degree bend in it. You will need a much more acute angle than that.

Awesome man!! glad to see it saved you some $$ Ya you deffinitely have to bend the bracket and it its not easy. I put it on the ground and used my hands but it wasn't super easy. You gotta be careful not to bend to much either lol

good job man thanks for the pics. I would paint behind the signals as well this way they are a little more hidden, but to be honest i didn't notice untill you pointed it out.
