Help with sizing on a suit please.
Measurements:
5'4, 42 chest, 31 waist, inseam 28, 170lb, big arms and shoulders, muscular build. Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket medium fits a little snug. What suit would fit properly? How about a Teknic or Agv size 42? (Can get a good deal.)

You won't fit into an off the shelf suit very well . You could maybe get a 42 and then have it shortened. I am 5-8 and 150 so I am pretty slim. I wear a size 40 and it fits pretty good. Your best bet would be to go and try on suits to get the closest fit and then have it altered.

I'm thinking that an alpinestar might fit you.

I am just about the same as you. 5'6" 180lbs. 41" chest 28" inseam muscular build. I have a size 40 gpx. It is a tad long in the arms and legs, and a little loose around the chest and waist. Joe Rocket are made way big, and the size charts are way off on the chest, but correct on the inseam and arm length. If I was 10 pounds lighter, I know I would fit into a 38 with no problem. I probably could now. I would bet that a 38 would be perfect for you. Most other suits have a skinny persons cut, and probably won't even come close to fitting properly. If you are interested, http://www.motoxoutlet.com/index.asp...S&Category=353 is where I got mine. It was well below the best price of any other places I checked.

you are right in between a alpinestars 50 and 52. i would probably go for the 50 and it will break in. you may need to get it shortened a little... but that is not a big deal from a good leather tailer.
give me a call if you want a wicked deal on one and some more help.
cheers... nick - mri

We're almost the same size. I'm 5'5", 42" chest, 32" waist, 165 lbs and medium build. I fit into a Teknic 1pc 50eu/40us snugly with a back protector. Try on a 50eu/40eu and a 52eu/42eu.

I'm about the same as you but i'm 170lbs and with an 29 inseam.
I have the A* SX-1 in size 40 US/ 50 EURO
Fits like a glove now. I'm still not sure if the back protector I order will work with the suit and then again i'm still on a dieit. Looking to get my weight to 150 / 160lbs

Lonely RR and E racer did you have to have the legs shortened? Did the knee pucks fall on the knee or is simply cutting the length enough?
Guys thank you fall all the help.

Didn't have the legs or anything else on the suit shortened.
It fits like a glove.
Just remeber the suit was design to fit your body when riding on the bike
Here's a sizing chart for A* this is would i used when picking a size from A*

Nick, thanks for the speedy shipping on all of my stuff... Still not sure about the sz 50 GPU.. since my arms are big, and it feels like someone is standing on my shoulders with their feet, and giving me a melvin at the same time... How tight is it supposed to be at first?

No altering needed...suit length is perfect. Whatever slack there is bunches up just above the knee.

yes... it will break-in... especially the non-italian leather suits like the GPU. i have had my smx-2 for over 2 years and i still need help getting in and out of it. the snugger the better. you will hate it when riding for the first couple of weeks... feel like you are in a straight jacket or something... but after it breaks-in... you will never want to ride without one on.
cheers... nick - mri
