I just wanted to get a thread going of like minded folks, so we can share our thoughts and opinions on how we feel about....... Things. Agree or disagree, lets hear it.
I'm agnostic. A true atheist absolutely knows that there is no god. A religious person absolutely knows that there is. I doubt there is but have no proof either way.
Both other groups are basing their belief on nothing.

I'm with TheX. Agnostic. As long as people are good human being it's good enough for me. I don't care if you're black, white, asian, hispanic, catholic, hindu, muslim, buddhist etc. Be kind to me and I'll be kind to you. Forcing beliefs on others is what ticks me off. Let people live their own lives and make their own decisions.

I agree, I am a true athiest. There is no god, we evolved. Bottom line.
Yes, indeed. People dont like to hear the opinion of an atheist, agnostic or agnostic atheist. But when push comes to shove, you better believe prayer wont save a god damn soul, but my ar15 should will protect me and my family.
Religious folks shove their ideas down our throats but when we do the same it's somehow wrong. Kinda like how telling a fat person they are disgusting, when they did the first offense by showing themselves in public. No one wants to see that!

Thats funny you said that, i was just talking to a c-worker today about how many fat ass people are out here in the carolinas. Its crazy how fat people are out here. Im not skinny but at least i can get the fuk out of my car to throw trash away. To top it off, its a bible belt out here, a church every 100 yards. Leads me to believe that ministries are less for the word of god and more for the righteous dollar bill.

Nobody should be shoving anything down anyone elses throat, atheist or otherwise. If someone wants to be atheist then so be it. If they want to beleive in christianity, so be it. If they wanna be fat, so be it.

first hand knowledge of the church structure, the churches are their to hold the land, hand in hand with the government to control the people, and keep them at bay, away from their true freedoms and knowledge, all run by central diocese and then the vatican, then well the black pope,
and yes POWER AND MONEY is what it is all about, always has been,
yet the sheep believe in heaven, and hell, and a wooden cross, nails in the hands, and a crown of thorns,

I understand what your saying, but when people conistantly try to foece thier beliefs on you.. you eventually fold, one way or the other. I folded the other way and think that people need to get a grip on life and live it without fear of damnation.

Absolute truth right there. High ground and lots of rounds.

I'm agnostic, but would tend towards atheist views slightly. I don't believe there can be a god, but I'm willing to accept I might be proven wrong, if there's evidence of it. I'm actually pretty open minded about most things. I just don't think you can ever be that certain of anything really.
Translated from Latin to English, "Ad Hominem" means "against the man" or "against the person."
An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument. Typically, this fallacy involves two steps. First, an attack against the character of person making the claim, her circumstances, or her actions is made (or the character, circumstances, or actions of the person reporting the claim). Second, this attack is taken to be evidence against the claim or argument the person in question is making (or presenting). This type of "argument" has the following form:
1. Person A makes claim X.
2. Person B makes an attack on person A.
3. Therefore A's claim is false.
The reason why an Ad Hominem (of any kind) is a fallacy is that the character, circumstances, or actions of a person do not (in most cases) have a bearing on the truth or falsity of the claim being made (or the quality of the argument being made).

i caught this thread first when i got back from lunch,
then i saw the mess in the christ followers thread.
guys please show a little restraint and give some respect and let them have their thread.
honestly i looked at it as a good place to ask some questions that really baffled me about christians/christianity.
then all you asshats came in with your flamethrowers.
yes i would be carrying one too, but that thread was not a debate thread.
if we want this to be a debate thread sure, then lets get hot and heavy with it and really blow the thing open.
if we want this to be excslusive to like minded people without interuption from those who oppose then i will handle those who come into this thread and do not show respect.
if they want to argue a point let them come here or something. but in all fairness you dont want them preaching shiet and shoving it down your throat, they dont appreciate having people come in and bash them.
if we cant handle that little bit of compramise, well that would just be sad

Some of you guys are saying that the christians are shoving things down your throat but they don't like it if you speak your mind and your beliefs...
I don't see a single christian in this thread firing up their flame throwers... However I DO see you guys in their thread starting a bunch of BS.
Just sayin. I'm not on either side of it. Just an observation.
If both sides want a reasoned debate then fine.
I'm not going to preach to anybody that being agnostic or atheist is the only true way to go. Likewise, I don't want anybody to tell me that I need to follow Christ, Buddah, Allah or anyone else.
We all have our own views and should respect each other's right to believe in whatever we want and express those views; whether you think it's ludicrous or not.
I, personally, think religion is often used as a coping strategy to help get through the trials and tribulations that everyday life throws at you, and to find association with likeminded people. If somebody finds that works for them, then it's fine by me. As long as it doesn't have a detrimental effect on my own life.
