The back story:
So one day i got a ticket for my license plate being to hard too see. (while going 80+). It was a fix it ticket so i went ahead and got another bracket
and just wegged the bracket in between the exhaust and the metal strap holder. Went back and got the ticket taken care of. So then i put my license plate back where it was originally, but bent it a little farther out.
After i got to my destination i looked backed to see no plate! I thought i had lost it, but i looked closer and it had gotten caught in the showa metal cylinder and the swing arm.
And thats when i remembered a friend had a license plate that rolled and was hinged!
Went to the motorcycle shop and it was 150 bucks, because you had to buy the whole under tail kit! I said ***k that and went to the hardware store.
Unfortunately i forgot who made the kit or i would have linked it.
The write up:
Its on an 04 Cbr600RR
Start out by going to your local Hardware store and getting the following
1. Two small hinges (or one large if you prefer)
2. Some springs (not really needed, but i got them just in case)
3. Some sort of wheel type device with an axle perpendicular on a piece of metal. Screen door wheels worked well even though i could only use one.
I had to start out by drilling the hole bigger on the hinges so the license
plate could mount
Then i attached a spring from one side to the other. (this one was a bit
too small, id recommend a bigger one)
After that you may have to bend your wheels holder bracket thing.
Impossible with hands!
I unfortunately couldn't drill through whatever metal this **** is!
So i attached it like this
Make sure it rolls!
So take your bike with your under tail kit.
AND BAM!
remove your under tail kit (and almost everthing else haha)
the circle is where my plate got caught!
After that
Drill the holes in your undertail kit..
And mount your hinges.
Finished Product!
I havent mounted it on my bike yet because im waiting on an led to arrive
in the mail for my license plate. (guess it broke when i took it off)
