the mid Atlantic is really gonna get slammed, i heard somewhere between 6-10" of rain. that's a cr*p load for us in the north east. i wish for all you guys down in the Maryland, Delaware, Conn., and surrounding states best of luck and keep your arse and RR's dry and safe .

Reason: typo
This is going to be a bad one. When the weathermen all claim that this will the storm of their careers then you know it'll go down in history. I remember when hurricane Irene was approaching last year it was dying down in the process. Not Sandy. I just hope there's no hail because my car cover sure as hell isn't staying on even with the rope tied underneath it. Be safe everyone!! Go in your garages and work on the bikes lol

We're supposed to get around 50mm of rain and strong winds over the next couple of days here in Nova Scotia, but I don't think it's going to be nearly as bad as what some of you guys will be getting further south. I have my bike stored in an underground parking garage just the same though.

As an adult who grew up with countless hurricanes and has been hit by some pretty legit ones, (Four in 2004 alone) this "hype" generated by Sandy is nothing but fearmongering to stir up ratings.
Will there be damage? Of course, and I hope everyone is safe and prepared for the worst.
Will it be a disaster? No. Will it be the "Perfect Storm" of '91? Not even close. Its not even going to be a tight-knit hurricane when it makes landfall. Just a large low pressure system - a Nor'Easter. And a weak one at that.
I'm not a weatherman, but I do have some experience with hurricanes. Isaac was a blast.
I've dealt with hurricanes most of my life. The worst part isn't the storm, it's the days without electricity! Good luck everyone and stay safe.
I'm in Freeport NY, which is a town in long island known to flood, and my biggest concern is the power. The days without power are killer, especially since all my family left NY and I don't really have any other resources for help.
As for my bike, she's just in the garage. Nothing more I could do.
I don't expect severe street flooding where I am; I'm a good distance from the actual port. My basement will probably flood and power will go out. I'm just hoping I don't get a tree dropping on my house or garage.
PA has declared a state of emergency. All schools and public buildings are closed. We're staffing our second ambulance station for 24 hrs instead of the normal 16. I have my sincere doubts that this storm is going to be anything beyond an inconvenience.

They are blowing this way out of proportion..overrated... yes there will be some power outages and some damage but nothing like they're calling for. Everyone stay safe.

Last night looking through videos and stuff I'm listening to nothing but devastating things that are very likely to happen. I'm not concerned at all to be honest.

Thank you for posting what I came in here to say.
This is worse than the baby earthquake we got. People don't even understand what the hurricane is, yet it's not like this is the first time they have experienced it.
My bike is sitting outside. If it gets knocked over, it gets knocked over. That's what we have insurance for right?

Lots of fear mongering going on from all angles. Perhaps more than I've ever seen. This is ridiculous.

I agree with you guys to some extent. its a minor hurricane and the hype is way over-exaggerated I'm sure. probably won't amount to anything nearly as bad as they are all saying. However, in new england storms like these aren't normal for us. so we aren't as easily able to deal with them as say the southeast.
look at the opposite. what happens down in Florida or any of the southeast states when you get a 5-6" snow storm? that hardly even worth mentioning up here. it takes at least 12-16" for them to even cancel school, let alone close roadways. it because we are used to it and have the equipment and ability to handle the amount. same thing just different perspective.
So i'm still going with: everyone be careful and safe, don't let your homes flood and hope everyone stays dry
