is anyone thinking of getting a liter bike?

I've been thinking about getting a 1000rr or 1198s or 1199(heard about glitches and some crankcases blowing up (Carlos Checa tested one and blew) :|) but the Ducati grunt!!!!! But I really like the 1000rr 09 or 12' models.

I've been looking in the 1000r.net forums and dammmm!!!
http://www.1000rr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=95272

what would you get?

If you want a twin, which I prefer for the street, I would suggest the KTM RC8R. buddy has one, and its sooo sick.

I'm satisfied with my motorcycle right now.Would like to get a liter bike later on down the road though.Plus if I wait they might invent even cooler stuff.

If you want a no hassle speed machine then go with 1000rr.

If you want something different, unique and a torque monster the 1x98 is your bike.

If you have money then the 1199 is for you.

I've put extensive kms on a 1000rr and currently own a 1098. I can answer questions on both these bikes.

I had thought about it. There was a Factory for sale for a good price around here for a while, but timing never lined up to go get it. Oh well, still more time!

Have it some consideration but I think it's overkill for the streets. I have and still am thinking about a mod size bike like a gsxr750, 848, 675. Too bad the zx7r is discontinued and Honda isn't bothering with one.

I'm happy with the 600, although a little more torque for streets would be nice.

I don't think I'd want to sacrifice the mobility of the 600, however.

I'm happy with the 600 for now but down the road eventually I'd like to get a liter bike. When the money is right of course.

Nice r1 Matt!!!

I have zero need for a liter bike right now. BUT, if Honda releases the rvf1000r, I will be put on the waiting list immediately. She will be my indoor art piece until I am ready to take the reins.

Otherwise, no need for a literbike in the near foreseeable future for me...

Would get any color in the 1000rr but I would stay away from the 2011 because it doesn't have black frame or swing arm. The yellow looks sweet too. The rc8 I like the all black with orange frame. The white is ok but too over bearing.

I put 20K miles on my 1098S (exact same ergos) in 11 months and never had a sore back or arms. I could ride that thing all day long without any issues.

I'm currently looking at a 2010 1198S with 2500 miles. Doubt I'll get it, but it's worth talking to the local dealer about. Price is right and the bike is flawless. My only reservations are practicality and the increase in insurance cost.

X, how was the cost of maintenance/reliablity of your 1098 compared to the RSV4? If it was covered under a plan, how much would it have cost/how much did it save you?

The Duc costs more because of the 7500 mile belt service. The 1199 got rid of that, and the dry clutch. BIG win there.

The 1098S was a fun bike to ride and very easy to look at. I HATE the loud clutch and the belts.

You'd be suprised how agile literbikes have now become. Especially when the suspension is set up for the rider.
