I have no idea how it happened, or what we did (myslef and 2 fellow riders), or what the hell was going through the police officers head.
We had just left the neighborhood into the highway, I was going in my lane swerving left and right WITHIN my lane, trying to warm up my tyres a little, when all of a sudden a cop car is behind us!!! I was literary 3 minutes out of my house, we were riding behind each other so I dont know what my other friend was doing but he explained later that he as well was doing the same thing warming up his tires. We stopped on the right shoulder of the road for the police officer and the first thing he asked was "Why were you racing ??". At that point I knew it wasnt gna go well. I am a 100% sure we werent racing nor stunting, I tried arguing with him but it was of no use. He was convinced we were "racing and showing off" in the street, and "endangering the lives of others". next thing you know 3 tow trucks are there (soo stupid, one for each bike) and we are escorted in the police car to the police station. There was a small hearing, they took our statements, one of us was lucky and they let him go, but me and my other friend were locked up over there for 2 days !!!
We got bailed out, however our bikes are still in the impound lot under the harsh sun parked on the sand.
The final hearing is on Sunday after which we will find out how much $$$$ we need to pay in fines, how long our bike are gna be impounded for, and whether or not our drivng licenses are gna be withdrawn from us.
FML, I am sooo fkn confused/annoyed.... Had i really done something wrong I would have accepted the consequences and let it be, however, It was sooo unexpected
That really sucks, hopefully the judge would accept your explanation. I think the cop mistaken you for racing because he just saw you swerving back and forth in your lane and thought you were zig zagging in between cars.

even with those charges....you shouldnt had never went to jail....
In the same place I was locked, one of the guys was convicted of fleeing the accident scene as he held no license, another guy was convicted of crashing into another car while DUI...
I couldnt believe I was treated the same like those guys for what I did
Get a lawyer fast! If he can't prove you were racing/speeding with a radar printout, it won't hold up in court.
I don't even know why the took you to jail, it's only a moving violation.

How fast were you guys going when you got pulled over?
I was going at 90kmh (road cams are set at 80),
However, I clearly asked the police officer If was am being stopped for speeding, I would totally understand and will be responsible for whatever the consequences are, he was like "NO, you were racing and showing off, and thus putting the lives of others in danger"
Get a lawyer fast! If he can't prove you were racing/speeding with a radar printout, it won't hold up in court.

lawyer up quick, and if they have police video evidence see if you can get that, if you were honestly just warming your tires and not racing then the judge will see that on video evidence... But for real don't take this sitting down you've already been arrested you have nothin to lose by trying to fight this in the legal court system
Best if luck man we all have our fingers crossed for you, and I worst come to worst we will put a little call of duty black ops 2 mission together and bust you and your bike out of prison hahaha

It's the cops discretion if you were racing or not. Law might be different in Dubai but in the U.S. they don't have to clock you to say you were racing. If you overtake another vehicle they can say you are racing. Believe me guys I know. Lawyer pleaded my case very well. If the penalties are the same pay the fines and avoid jail time and loss of license for a year. All in all about $3000 includes the lawyer. No jail time, none adjudicated.

Judge did not like us at all. We were guilty as soon as she heard the case. Before the lawyer even opened his mouth. Nothing prior, didn't even have a speeding ticket for 5 year prior. Good luck hope it goes well.

Honestly Iv lived in this country all my life (24 years), I was stopped countless times for different reasons and at all times it was just a small talk with the police guy and in the end they would be really nice and understanding and let me go.
Iv done worse in the past, this is just one out of ten incidences where I feel the police are being unjust, something was seriously wrong with the guy that stopped us. I guess it was just my unlucky day, Iv had soo many lucky days in the past so that might be fair

There is nothing against swirving in your lane due to accedent or debris avoidance he has no authority... And if he has no tape of proof he is about to be a desk jockey for a good while when I got done with him...
And just a heads up swirving to "warm up the tires" is all bs... What people don't understand is that stopping and going in acceleration and friction on the road from rotation is what warms up tires... When you see la mens or formula racers swirving its not to warm the tires a lot of people think it is but its wrong its meant to get the cherries (little balls of old rubber due to being so soft of tires) and debris off the tire for traction... They warm their tires in the pits with warmers and a full lap around the track to get the heat up..
So swirving does nothing but bring you attention or for those who know better make you look like a fool showing off.. Unless you just went through sand or dirt is the only time I do it or if I get really bored on long trips and go with the song on my player.. But performance factor it's useless...

CK in the state of VA it is illegal to swerve back and forth to warm up your tires. I assume this is the case for most states.
