Car remote starters

I want to get a remote start for my 01 impala. I went to best buy an picked one out the guy said it would cost 400$ total with installation because i have OnStar in my car. The onstar system isnt even hooked up, since ive owned the car i have never used it. is there a way i can get a remote start system for my car and by-pass the onstar system

I have a bulldog remote start on my 97 chevy lumina. I know it older and newer cars being more electronic it makes it harder. My dads a mechanic and he installed it for me and he said the newer the car and more electrical it is its harder to add a remote start to it and it may cause more problems down the road. Can be done tho! Idk how. Could ask him to see if its possible if you want? Idk if hel know tho

You have a few options. You can get an alarm w/remote start for around that price $400 installed. It doubles as a security system, lock/unlock doors trunk all that. Or you can get a remote starter, which is much cheeper a lot easier to put in and you still use your stock remote as normal, the only thing this will do is start your car, so you will need to carry both remotes. Both systems can be installed without the ON Star intetrface. It will work perfect without it.
Word of advice...I would deff not buy or have Bstbuy install it...Go to a real Audio Sound place, one that only deals with car audio and alarms.
