have anyone tried using side emitting led strips as their main source of lighting?
i found this picture searching around the forums. How well would these light up the road compared to stock lowbeams? would http://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-Super-Bri...62294e&vxp=mtr work? Or does someone have a recommended brand?

T: I like the look of those lights T. I've had PIAA 004XT before and the emitted lights were on the yellow side(wanted white). I dont see those lights you linked on your website. Do you still make them?
yep, i found it in http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=272547 post. His lights seems bright in the picture, but i cant tell how far it will project down the road. He should come and spread some knowledge here :)
Anyways, they are aimed quite well. There is a total of of 48 led's with the combined high beam. You have to ask yourself what it is you're trying to do though. Do you just want something street legal that's efficient enough to help you see the road? if so, that is great for this. I can see fine using my mirrored+smoked shield when it's pitch black during the night time. If you're looking for something that's over the top, then you might want to consider something else. The setup has proven to be very reliable and I would absolutely do it again to another bike. Adding just a few more strips (totaling 72 led's) would probably be close to the stock lighting output. I'm happy with them now though, but it's certainly possible. I also later added a reflective foil backing behind them which worked great too. Ultimately, I have no Desire to convince anyone else to do this, it's totally up to them. What I will say is it works, it's insanely cheap, they are waterproof, last very very long, use very little voltage, very flexible, and easily installed pretty much anywhere.
