Cool opinion piece about #58

The world needs more Marco Simoncelli in it, not less. True characters should be an example to us all....

Thanks for sharing that. At times I was a big fan of the breath of fresh air he brought to MotoGP, at other times he was reckless. No doubt he caused problems for other riders, but he was what the sport needed and gave it new life. It's sad that his was lost so soon. Loved the note on him bucking the tattoo trend and expressing his own personality instead of somebody else's.

He captured the emotion of the event perfectly. I hadn't cried since I was in my early teens... but I definitely shed a tear when I watched that.

A fitting tribute for sure

I especially liked this one sentence which I think summed up why Simoncelli had such a quickly growing fan base...

Quote:
... This is where true cool lies, in the ability to create and be original, not following a herd. ...
Simoncelli could have just adapted to the standard image that so many of the top riders seem to cultivate and probably gone on to be really famous. He could have played at being a nut case just for the attention. Instead he was simply himself and that was even better.

MGP just wasn't the same without 58 this year. Would've been a ton of fun to watch him and Marquez duke it out next year.
