Attached are pictures of my first stand. It's a Black Widow supposedly.
The problem is the actual padded part where the swingarm sits, rotates freely in either direction. There are no other psrts included in the package. Is it suppose to self balance, sounds ludicrous I know but I can't for the life of me figure it out. Appreciate the help.

Yeah mine came with those little padded things too and they also swiveled around the place.
I switched them out with the other ones that came with it in order to lift via the spools mostly because I was scared the bike might come off the pads when I was working on it.
See if you can get the spool picker-upper-er ones and put those on instead?

I'm sure there is something we aren't getting. Problem is I don't have spools on my bike, will they work with the axle?

I've never used a stand before, recently bought the bobbins and the stand which hooks onto the bobbins (can't compare to the stand type you have) but I love mine, was a bit nervous the first time using it, had the gf holding the bike just incase and even watched a few youtube vids beforehand haha
start at #3:35, also this guy in the vid is annoying..
So annoying but I got what I needed from the vid, I will still need someone to help me first time out in case something goes wrong and I drop the bike. Thanks dude.

Aww man, is it the kind of workplace that doesn't even let you use mobiles while you're working?
I once worked in a place like that. Had to dump everything that could be used to contact/distribute info to the outside world, all locked up before we could get beyond the foyer.
To say the whole situation was "ghey" is an damn understatement, mostly as we worked in what was essentially a giant faraday cage so I don't really know what they were expecting us to do with our phones and stuff anyway...

Huzzah for nazi security
Bingo, but not exactly. I need a special permit to bring my cell into the facility, getting the permit is difficult but once you can bring it in, you can almost do what you want.
