My "Careless Driving" footage - Bullsh*t ticket - New video with audio

Today on my way to work I drove past what appeared to be an accident. As usual the flashing lights peaked my interest and I started recording on my helmet camera. About a mile or so after what you see in the video I was pulled over by another officer because one of the officers at the scene of this incident said I went by them at excessive speed and was weaving in and out of traffic. I was issued a ticket for Careless Driving. 4Point Violation with 147.00 fine. Please take a look at the video and tell me what I did wrong. I've showed it to a few different friends and cannot seem to figure it out.

Usually traffic is doing 10 miles over speed limit and you had to zip by 2 of those cars right after passing a cop. Prolly right after he just got done dealin with an accident. He mad.

If you have an aftermarket exhaust I'm sure they heard you go heavy on the throttle as you passed them.

Its very obvious you were speeding and the quick dart into the other lane is probably what sealed the deal.

You may not have been speeding but you need to understand that natural curiosity of humans when passing something like this will make them interested, so they slow down look at the accident and take there eyes of the road, and the way you were going faster than all the other cars mixed with the other drivers not paying attention could lead to another accident very easily...

To get ticketed for "careless driving", to me, means he was just out to get you. Bc this hardly justifies even a speeding ticket.
On another note... If you have an exhaust, that certainly isn't gonna help you. That's the reason I'd never put a pipe on a 600... Don't want everyone in town knowing I'm riding hard and where to find me.

The speed limit on the road is 40MPH. Between the curiosity of the people and merging into traffic we were doing around 20-25mph past the accident. Then I moved back over and sped up to 45. This is all verified by the GPS in my camera. Yes the exhaust was probably loud as I went past the scene.

In regards to the comment about "he was out to get you" the officer that called in the report of me going by is actually a girl, but she arrested me back in March for a Domestic Violence against my ex girlfriend(The entire case got dismissed). She arrested me on very very little evidence and I filed a case against her with internal affairs for false arresting.

As we can see you have the video... You said there is a gps speedometer on your camera (?)... Take it to court, the officer clearly has a hard on for you...

I dont know what the laws are where you live, but passing on the right is illegal here in NJ, doing it twice like that is definitely considered careless. Could even be called reckless, which is much worse than careless here.

Naahh there is no way that she knew it was me. I didn't have my bike at that time. But here is the thing, I wasn't going to get a ticket, until after she showed up on scene and I asked the officer who pulled me over to have her not come over here because of the previous case. That pissed her off. But she came over anyways and her and I argued a bunch and she got mad and told the other officer to write me everything(Tucked plate, riding with ear buds in, careless driving).

Definitely sounds like there could be some factors that could get you out of his ticket. I'd challenge it & take it to court.

Its not illegal to pass in the right hand lane in the state of Colorado. Here are few other fun facts for the story.

1)My mom and ex step-dad and my moms current boyfriend are all deputies with the county we live in(I got issued a ticket by the city PD).

2)In the state of Colorado it is illegal to modify your exhaust from stock on any motor vehicle.

3)Yes my license plate is tucked(Only because my new fender eliminator hasn't come yet).

Wait, so you passed in the right lane and then argued with a cop and now you're wondering why you got a ticket?

Im not opposed to getting a ticket. Im opposed to getting tickets for something I didn't do. It is not illegal to pass in the right hand lane on a road that has a speed limit less than 65mph.

This is probably one of the least squidly riding videos posted in a while. If everything checks like you said, you have gps verifying your speed then take it to court. If you have the attitude of F the police they should never give us bikers tickets, they are just picking on us, then I hope you get more tickets.

I just made contact with the officer who issued the ticket, asked him if he noticed the fact that I had a camera on my helmet and that I recorded everything and if he wanted to come down to my work(its right next door to the PD) and view the video really quick to save us all time. He respectively declined and said that he was confident in his officers judgment. I think its time I file another report with internal affairs.

You put a loud "look at me" exhaust on your bike, and accelerate quickly after passing several police officers. Looks to me like you got exactly what you were after.

You also have your plate tucked (reason is irrelevant) and you are wearing ear buds while riding (stupid). I'm glad you got pulled over. You deserved it. Now stop crying. Seriously, it's pathetic.

I don't think you'll get off of it. Not saying you were driving like a maniac but when you show them this video and the judge sees how you "aggressively" accelerated is probably what they'll call it around those two cars and then jumped back into the left lane they probably will give you The ticket.

Doesn't look like much happened from the vid and what you've explained and you might win, but is it legal to pass on the right after the scene of an accident? That's the only thing I can imagine they might complain about.

I asked for opinions. Im not crying about it.

My plate falls into the correct guide lines for the law. It must be visible from 30ft away. I can read my plate from over 50ft away and I don't have perfect vision. Wearing ear buds while riding isn't stupid. Wind noise is loud and damaging to the ear, a lot of people wear ear plugs while riding.
