"You should really just buy a GoldWing"

Had to run a few errands after school today and on my way home some guy yelled for me to buy a GoldWing as I was sitting at a redlight. I barely even heard him (I listen to music with my Scala G9) and it took until the light turned green for it to register what he said.

What the heck is he talking about? I don't think its that unreasonable for a guy on a CBR to be carrying

2 Qts of Yamalube
Chain Cleaner
Silicon Spray
Stabil
Calculus Book
Latin American Book
Notebook
Tire Pressure Gauge
Ear Plugs
10mm Wrench
Hex Wrench
Disc Lock
Calculator
Rag
Glock 26
Multitool
And I put my jacket liner in there because it warmed up.

:)

Dito^ after my MSF class and my teacher crushed it like it was a joke in her goldwing (she weighs (90 lbs wet) I've kind of wanted one especially when she showed us the heated seats ride adjustment and everything... More of a convertible luxury car than a bike IMO.

I like how the glock is just slipped into that list like it's just as normal as a pencil case (UK member here) lol.

I don't think its unreasonable to have something to carry items on the bike, its not like we can fit anything under the rear seat

If I get random people shouting at me I normally respond with the current time, f**ks them right up

Not to sure how far, or how long the ride is. But I feel like you only need half that stuff.

Don't buy a Goldwing, buy a storage unit. Why are you carrying half of those things with you all the time? Can't you keep those chemicals and liner at home? I can see the books for school and the Glock. Why not keep those tools under the passenger seat?

I gotta go with the Goldwing comment, honestly. Or a backpack. That thing just looks silly on there.

Dude. You missed "errands" I'm winterizing the jet ski so I picked up that stuff to take it home from the store.

I don't ride with any of that stuff except the Glock, tools, and rag.

I've done some work on a few modern goldwings, Not my style of bike, but holy Jesus they sound AWESOME. When I hear these pull up to the shop, I'm like sweet ferrari, then I see a cruiser bike and I'm so confused. Love the motor no doubt!

How do you like the Ogio tail bag? I'm a huge Ogio fan boy, they make fantastic products, and I'm considering swapping my nelson riggs saddle bags for a full Ogio set up. There is already a thread on the saddle bags, so my query is specifically about the tail bag.

Looks to have plenty of room lol.

Sometimes I'll skip the backpack and go with just the tail bag. Don't really care if it looks ridiculous, it feels more comfortable to me.

Sure it does the bag stood a bit shy of 2 feet tall, but I'm still doing daily errands on my bike, not hurting anything.

I wrote a review here:

To keep it short, I love the bag. Backpacks are cumbersome and get heavy (especially when you have to carry a ton of stuff). Plus the tail bag carries a ton more room than any backpack I've ever seen. And if you've already got Ogio stuff, you know the quality is superb. What really sold me was the mounting method. Check out the pics, there's no chance for it rubbing paint off.

Probably a similar reason why most of you wear a helmet: Protection.

I've tried carrying a S&W642 in my jacket pocket, but with gloves on its almost impossible to get out and unless I'm at a redlight - shooting while on a bike is impossible. I've tried it and it didn't work out well since I'm a right handed shooter and as soon as you go to grab the gun, you start slowing down. Not a good thing in an imaginary cager vs biker shootout.

Then I wore my G26 in my waistband, its easier to get to but still impossible to shoot on the move. But when I would pull up to redlight I'd notice awkward looks from the people next to me. It took me a while to realize what was going on until a cop pulled me over and told me my gun was showing.

Ever since then I just carry the Glock in my tailbag. Ideally, a velcro'd pocket in a tank back would be the perfect place for quick access while riding, but again its still impossible to shoot and ride. So I keep it in my tail bag and throw it on when I get where I'm going. The best defense a biker has against road rage is their throttle, wisdom, and decision making abilities in my opinion.

I've only had to use it once, saw two hoodrats robbing an old guy downtown. When the cops showed up I was body slammed into the ground because everyone pointed at me and said "Thats the guy with the gun!!!" but when the story was straightened out they gave me a ride back to my car, gave me my gun back and said good job. I didn't even get interviewed or have to fill out paperwork.

Big difference from the U.K. huh?

We don't have people walking about the streets with Glocks, so there isn't really much need for them to be armed.

Rate of Gun Homicide per 100,000 People:

USA - 2.98

UK - 0.03

What is the overall violent crime rate per 100,000?

And if you are violently attacked in the UK what is your course of action for self defense?

My point was that we don't have gun crime in the UK so there isn't a need for armed police. I'm not trying to say that we don't have crime ;-)

That's a nice bag!

Shame you couldn't hear him at first, in reality if you had a Goldwing you could have just been blaring your own personal stereo for everyone to hear.

thats not true, the correct course of action is, take the beating, apologise for getting blood everywhere, buy him dinner, give him a go of your gf, give him your tv & give him a ride home. if you hit back then you're taking away his human rights & you could spend 60 years in prison.

not worth the risk in my opinion

Honestly I think everyone worries about other people too much. If you need to use a tail bag to get your stuff around, then so be it. It's nobody else's business if you have the bag or not, so carry on and call it a day
