So a few months ago (July 31st to be exact) I got myself into an accident on my way home from work. I've had plenty of low sides and drops, but this was the first time another vehicle was involved.

I didn't think the damage seemed THAT bad. The problem was that there was a lot of damage to the front end and small damage to bits and pieces all over the bike. Long story short the bike got written off.

After a bit of negotiation I managed to keep the bike and still get paid out a decent amount from my insurance, so know I'm in the process of putting her back together. Should be a fun winter project, and I thought I'd keep everyone up to date if anyone is interested.

So far the plan is to go with mostly OEM parts that I can find salvaged. I've already gotten a new headlight assembly, and an upper cowl and clip-ons are in the mail. If Santa is generous to me this year I may also splurge for a few new mods, but time will tell.

Anyways if anyone's got any suggestions let me know!

Here is a photo that I took with my phone the week after the accident, the bike is now in my garage with all the fairings off. Better photos to come as things move forward!!

Thanks man. I actually t-boned the right quarter panel of an oncoming car that was making a left turn. I was sent flying over the hood, but if it had been a foot further back I probably would have gone through the passenger window. Full gear head to toe in 30+ degree (86* Fahrenheit) weather. EMS was pretty happy about it; one of the paramedics told me that in most of the crashes he goes to during the summer the riders are pretty mangled. Lots of people out in shorts and a t-shirt. I broke my foot but not much else.

Anyways I don't want to get sidetracked on this thread. Most of the parts should be here within the next 2 weeks, check back then for some more updates and photos!

can't wait to see the progress! Will you be putting it back to stock or will you catch the mod bug?

A little bit of both from the looks of things. Unfortunately I've got a few other expenses on the go right now so it will probably be a work in progress.
