U shouldn't, I mean mine ran lean, I did a pc tune and mine ran different. It didn't have power till 5k in any gear and lagged. I also did a bmc filter
As stated, it might run a bit lean but you should be fine. If you get a new air filter such as a K&N, along with the slip-on, that's when I'd recommend a PC.
I have an Akrapovic Slip-on and K&N Air Filter and prior to fitting a Power Commander V my CBR was running very lean at certain points throughout the rev range. Having had the bike mapped on the Dyno the bike is now so much smoother and the fuelling is now sorted. There has also been a healthy increase of power and torque across the rev range which is certainly noticeable when riding. In my honest opinion, whilst not essential, the benefits of installing a Power Commander to compliment a slip-on are well worth it.

^^ which is why you should get fuel mapping device elul21
if you suffer from being really anal on everything you do to your bike...there cannot be no power commander or other fuel mapping device for very long or you will lose the plot and end up in a mental ward. I still hate that my list of £1000's is still not done and wont be for a long time as I'm a poor sod.

Pretty sure that K&N filter had something to do with it... Assuming its an upgrade not just a standard filter replacement..

the only difference i have from people on this board is the country im in has a 128% import tax, its so high that any power commander thats $300 for u guys is around $1000 for me after shipping, time and other bullshit associated with it... im going only with the exhaust no filter so i hope it will be fine ;o

No, the K&N air filter had nothing to do with it as this was installed at the same time as the Power Commander V when the CBR was mapped. I was using the OEM air filter originally when I first installed the Akrapovic slip-on and a power run on the Dyno highlighted the fact that the engine was running very lean across most parts of the rev range particularly between 7-10k rpm.
Whilst not always essential I would advocate a Power Commander V with a slip-on but if at all possible I would first have the bike put on a Dyno for a power run which will highlight if there is an issue with the Air-Fuel ratio which needs to be addressed. Clearly if there is not a problem a fuel management system is therefore not required. In my case a Power Commander V was necessary and made a noticeable difference to the CBR.
