hey i found this on another site fireblades.org....if this info is correct can we please sticky this???

There's a "test plug that you need to ground, and count the flashes of the FI light. The plug is under the seat, right side of the bike, near the ECM , at the right rear of the battery. There are 2 wires to the plug, and you need to jump them, then turn the key "on", with the kill switch on "run".

If there's a code, the FI will flash your code(s). Count the flashes.

There's long blinks amd short blinks.

  • Long = 1.3 seconds
  • Short = .5 seconds

If you have a long blink, the 3 short ones.....that's 13.

  • A long blink = 10
  • A short blink = 1
  • 9 short blinks = 9....and so on.

Let us know....

CODES:

  • 0 - bank angle sensor, ECM, PGM-FI fuse
  • 1 - MAP sensor
  • 2 - MAP sensor vacuum hoses, or sensor itself
  • 7 - ECT sensor poorly connected or open circuit
  • 8 - TP sensor, TP senspr wiring
  • 9 - IAT sensor connection, or open wire
  • 10 - Baro sensor, or connection, or wiring
  • 11 - Vehicle speed sensor, or connection or wiring
  • 12 - #1 injector connection, or faulty injector
  • 13 - #2 injectior connection or faulty injector
  • 14 - #1 connection or open/shorted circuit
  • 15 - #2 connection or open/shorted circuit
  • 18 - Cam pulse sensor, connection or loose sensor
  • 19 - Ignition pulse sensor, connection or loose sensor
  • 20 - faulty E-PROM in ECM.

I will be honest with you i can not confirm or deny this info
some body with a manual in hand has to look up
this info and either confirm it or deny it :toothy4:

Any luck with your bike yet ?:icon_lol:

According to my manual (2003/2004):
  • A long blink = "10"
  • A short blink = "1"
  • DNS = Engine does not start
  • EON = Engine operates normally

And I quote (i.e. don't shoot the messenger):

BLINKS : PROBLEM, SYMPTOMS
  • No blinks: ECM malfunction, DNS
  • No blinks: ECM power / ground circuit malfunction, DNS
  • No blinks: ECM output line malfunction, DNS
  • No blinks: MIL circuit malfunction, EON
  • Stays lit: Data link circuit malfunction, EON
  • 1 blink: MAP sensor circuit malfunction, EON
  • 2 blinks: MAP sensor performance problem, EON
  • 7 blinks: ECT sensor circuit malfunction, Hard start at low temp
  • 8 blinks: TP sensor circuit malfunction, Poor performance on quick throttle operation
  • 9 blinks: IAT sensor circuit malfunction, EON
  • 11 blinks: Vehicle speed sensor circuit malfunction, EON
  • 12 blinks: No. 1 Primary injector malfunction, DNS
  • 13 blinks: No. 2 Primary injector malfunction, DNS
  • 14 blinks: No. 3 Primary injector malfunction, DNS
  • 15 blinks: No. 4 Primary injector malfunction, DNS
  • 16 blinks: No. 1 Secondary injector malfunction, DNS
  • 17 blinks: No. 2 Secondary injector malfunction, DNS
  • 18 blinks: Cam pulse generator, no signal, DNS
  • 19 blinks: Ignition pulse generator, no signal, DNS
  • 21 blinks: No. 1 O2 sensor circuit malfunction (California only) , EON
  • 22 blinks: No. 2 O2 sensor circuit malfunction (California only), EON
  • 23 blinks: No. 1 O2 sensor heater malfunction (California only), EON
  • 24 blinks: No. 2 O2 sensor heater malfunction (California only), EON
  • 33 blinks: E2-PROM in ECM malfunction, EON
  • 48 blinks: No. 3 Secondary injector malfunction, DNS
  • 49 blinks: No. 4 Secondary injector malfunction, DNS

Hope I copied that all down correctly...

My issues are all that I have left in this quote as far a numbers go. My engine will start sometimes, run for a short period of time. Then cut out, like a loss of power. When I'm riding it will sputter as well from time to time then get all jerky with the acceleration. As I stop, the engine will cut off. Then, I have to turn the ignition to of and power cycle to restart. Even does this at idle.

My displays buttons have disappeared. Occasionally I see condensation under the plastic lense. When I key off, without pressing the kill switch, the engine will run for a couple seconds, display will fade out then both stop seconds later.

Battery I'm using is a lithium cell.

According to my manual (2003/2004):
A long blink = "10"
A short blink = "1"
DNS = Engine does not start
EON = Engine operates normally

And I quote (i.e. don't shoot the messenger):

49 blinks: No. 4 Secondary injector malfunction , DNS

Cool, no prob. My contribution for the week.

If you bought your 07 from the dealer you should have
1 year of free HRC membership with that membership
you can have access to the online 07 RR service manual
that is within the HRC website

I was looking for this plug today but couldn't locate it. (didn't want to start jumping random wires by the battery) is there any more specific info where the plug is located?
behind the battery under the seat....

Yep. I posted this in another thread. Just turn the key on with the bike on the kickstand and don't crank the bike.

also, I had the FI light come on and then it feels like the bike went into a safe mode that ran so rich the bike wouldnt run...does anyone know of a safe mode like this?
Nope. Never heard of a safe mode. If the MIL is on and the bike is running like crap it's telling you the truth.

Thanks! I was thinking there was a safe mode bc my air fuel collection data was all 10.9s in every rpm/tp cell. It would make sense to have a safe mode that is rich across the board so as to not burn up the engine if something in the fi system is faulty.

#32 ·
What collection data are you talking about? Are you looking at the fuel map in your power commander software?

I came across a problem with the bike suddenly dying while riding in the highway. The mil light comes on before it shuts down and I can feel the bike starting to loose some power and as i give it some gas it wont budge. Any ideas what it might be?

I want to test it out for errors but I'm not understanding how to "ground the plug". Help?! Pls!

Thanks.
