Check out the search, just type "change oil" or "recommended oil" there is a tone of info on this topic already.

You mean....errr.....you put oil in that thing?

Seriously, this is like asking about octane.....

It will be a never ending debate or opinionfest. You pretty much can go wrong with any brand you pick.

I went from Amsoil to Repsol. Repsol rating is actually a higher standard than all the other oils. Look up the numbers.

havent bought oil since the first time i changed it in late 05.
so i really dont know what oil i like. lol.
i do know that i like free oil. haha. got a case of mobil mx4t and half a case of castrol syn.
also just got 3 bottles of the Motul syn stuff recently.
so i have enough free oil to go through at least 3 more oil changes.

Just picked up a gallon of Repsol 4T Full-Syn, will be changing the oil Sunday. Not the cheapest oil, but I figured I would give it a try since there are quite a few people here on .net that recommend it.

I want to share some information I found on another forum (fireblades.org) about rotella synthetic oil.

Basically, a motorcycle rider researched oil based on technical data and decided to go with Rotella 5w-40. The member states rotella has "one of the highest flash points, lowest pour points, fewest VII's, etc." He rode is 2002 F4i for 4000 miles and submitted his oil for analysis. The viscosity did start to break down, but only to the equivalent of a 30 weight. He goes on to say the best measurement of viscosity is the V100C method.

The writer compared a few other brands after a few thousand miles utilizing the V100C test.
  • Rotella dropped from 16.48 to 10.44 (4100 miles)
  • Mobil 1 15w-50 18.3 to 12.5 (4300 miles)
  • Rebsol YPF 16.48 to 10.44 (5000 miles)
He says the place which analyzed his oil was quite please with the performance of the Rotella for the amount of miles that was put on.

The writer has spec sheets he attached to his thread.

Repsol Sintetico 4T 10W40 (semi synth) or Repsol Racing 4T 10W40 (full synth).

however i use the Racing 4T 10W50 & so far i have to problems with my CCT ticking when it's cold, i have asked the importer in country to bring in the Racing 4T 10W40, i change mine every 10K kms or 6K miles & that's along with the oil filter.

My first oil change with the bike I went with Castrol Syntec, and I couldn't be happier. The previous owner had only used dino oil and the switch to full synthetic was amazing. I'm probably going to experiment with different synthetics for my next couple of changes just for the hell of it.

so what you are saying is that the mobil 1 had a higher tbn, broke down about the same as the others but after approximately the same number of miles still had a higher tbn.

i have read that oil is still good until it gets to about half of its original tbn so the mobil 1 could hit 5K + easy before it needed changing

did i read that right?
