I noticed a noise coming from my forks today on my 03-04 RR.
The noise is a noticable "clunk" when holding the front brake and compressing the forks, or rolling (10-20mph) and braking moderately hard to very hard.

The noises started just today after months riding without any issue.
The front end of my bike is lowered about 3/4 of inch to provide room for my dirt bars.

After riding a slow speeds and braking with different amounts of force, my friend was watching. He noticed what seemed to be my forks moving.
To better explain, it seems the inner (upper) tube is moving back and forth in the outter (lower) tube.

My upper and lower triple tree's are both very secure, along with my steering stem bearings. I am absolutely sure everything is snug on the front end. So as of now I am at a stand still, I am completely unsure of what is going on.

What could be causing this movement in the front end? My only idea is that something is loose in the forks, most likely the lower tube.

Please, any and all insight as to what could be wrong is greatly appreciated.

Your steering stem nut is loose, or the steering stem bearings are worn. Also, the front rotors are free floating, and do give a little bit. Like if you squeeze the front brake and rock the bike back and forth a bit you can feel it.

There are bushings iin the forks that keep them in line with each other. if the slider is moving inside the fork... I'd bet you just need a fork rebuild job.
