Hi,

I'm having an issue with screwing in a kickstand bolt. The bolt was purchased from the Honda dealer so I know that it's the correct size. When I look through the hole where the bolt goes through you're able to see a misalignment. I'm not exactly sure if something needs to be tightened or moved, but the bolt isn't able to go in all the way. Essentially when looking through the hole there are two circles, and those circles are not aligned 100% so the bolt isn't able to pass all the way through. The bike appears to have been dropped so I'm not sure if something was inched out of place.

This picture shows where the bolt is supposed to go in.

I'm not exactly sure what I can do to make this fit. I've tried using an impact drill to see if it'd go in since my wrench wasn't helping but it's not budging at all. I have a temporary bolt in at the moment but it is not the correct size. For some reason if this bolt is not in, I'm not able to shift past 2nd gear. That is another issue in itself since I'm not sure what the relationship between the bolt and the clutch/shifter would be.

Thanks for any help.

never use an impact wrench to drive a stubborn bolt.

Shame, this is a mostly aluminum machine.......too much force leads to ruin.

Find out why/how much misalignment before proceeding?

then post for advice?

Just a quick update:

I received this reply below which I think is exactly what the issue is.

First thing, i believe this is the bolt that hold the sidestand bracket to the Frame/motor. Its not really the sidestand bolt that the stand pivots on. https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cbr600rr-2003-3-usa_model32053/partslist/F++21.html part# 6 is the missing one, and from the photos i am struggling to see the other one as well. The gear change also bolts to this bracket so if its loose the action of the gear change pedal will be poor. First thing lift it off the sidestand so there is no load. Loosen the other bolt and you should be able to adjust the bracket so the bolt fits.
