When did you change your spark plugs last? Check to make sure you're getting spark across all 4.

i got it going. held throttle open and started it. guess it was flooded

Glad you got it going just an FYI holding the throttle wide open is the way to get over a hard start as that won't foul the plugs and flood them with fuel while you are rolling the throttle

I am sorry I did not mean to confuse you holding the throttle wide open is the correct & best way to start a bike that is hard to start because if you roll the throttle on & off you will foul the plugs which is probably what happened

if i fowled the plugs wouldnt it run like crap after?

For a few seconds if that the best thing to do once the bike has started is to simply hold the throttle steady until you feel the bike had picked up an idle on its own then let it idle by itself for a couple of minutes before you start riding

I know it's weird :dontknow: that how I felt when it happened with my 03 ( twice) and what is even weirder is it never happened with my 07 even though I rode the 07 way less then the 03 :ponder:
