My 07 trackbike has only 887Kms on it. Bought from insurance company after being rear ended. Swingarm and rear wheel replaced. Ran it up to temp for the first time after changing to DW/WW and the fan doesn't come on. I let it run up to 115C and nothing. Checked the fuse, fuse is good, but no power accross it when fan SHOULD be on. Swapped the fan relay with the headlight relay and no change.

Got to get this working for tomorrow. Need your help guys. I'm going out right now to make sure that the fan isn't rubbing on the bracket (found it searching). I'll pull the connector to check the fan motor coil as well.

Thanks
Josh

If there is no juice at the fusebox, where do I check for continuity? Between the ECU and fusebox? Or from the ECT sensor to fusebox?

****, I have to be on the track Saturday morning. Can I run in 90F heat with no fan?

here's how it works. the ECT sends voltage to the ECU. the ECU sends voltage to the Fan relay, the relay closes and send voltage directly from the battery to the fan. at 103 the ecu should be sending voltage to the fan control relay. if it's not, you've got some problems.

however, in 90* heat... you'll probably be fine on track, and so long as you keep moving and give yourself a good cooldown lap you should be ok, however you should take care of your engine when off track. shut down as soon as you can, and keep a fan blowing on your radiator in between sessions. keep you eye on the temperature. if it's getting too hot, pit in.

I've got continuity between the relay box and the fan. Fan has a good ground too. I'll start with the ECT sensor and work my way back from there. The guage reads fine. Is it fed from the ECT sensor too?

yes. everything on the dash is fed from the ECU. the ECT Sensor feeds voltage to the ECU, which monitors it and when it reaches a certain voltage, the ECU will send voltage to the Fan Control Relay, and the Fan Control relay will end voltage from the battery to the Fan.

if i were to guess, i'd say that either the wire that comes from the ECU to the Fan Control Relay is broken, or the wire coming from the battery/fuse is is broken. it's a very simple system.

you said it was a trackbike
just take the fan off entirely and not worry about it.

i havent had a fan on my 07 trackbike in a year now
temps never go above 200 on the grid or 180 on the track

what about wheeling back to the paddock?

I would like to have the fan for the odd situation that may require it. I've got it narrowed down to the wiring from the ECU to the Fusebox I think. Since the guage displays what I would expect, it's likely no the ECT sensor. The bike is loaded in the trailer so I'm going to leave it till after this weekend. I'll keep an eye on it over the weekend. Taking my multimeter with me in case I need to do a little troubleshooting trackside.

Cheers
Josh
