Hello, I have a bit of an odd issue

Occasionally when I roll off to 0% throttle, it seems like the injectors aren't turning off and I have almost no engine braking. Turning my bike off and back on fixes it until it happens again, which seems to happen more during aggressive riding (though it's happened a few times on the freeway) or when it's warm out. FI light never turns on, and the bike only has 14k miles.

Unfortunately I'm awful at keeping records so I can't remember when it started, and I've added a Z-Bomb, Z-Fi, and Z-AFM in that order separately. I've asked Bazzaz and they say they've never heard of that happening.

It really makes me unable to fully trust my bike, at least to ride aggressively as I heavily rely on engine braking.

Is there any order or specific method I should troubleshoot? It's extremely inconsistent to test for as is. Could it be the TPS or is it more likely one of the additions? I have recalibrated the throttle in the ZFi.

TL;DR sometimes it feels like real world 0% throttle isn't being registered as 0% by the ECU, and it's fixed by turning the bike off and on

Had the same, but with a pc5. the more aggressively you rode , the more it would happen. in warm weather particularly .......

Does Bazzaz let you get a real time look at the TPS?

I also got a MIL code indicating TPS malf..... (3-5?)

I would do this with my 09 and would see throttle posit % varying.

DJ replaced it on warranty.

PM me if you wish!

that makes me feel a bit better, at least. still sucks that i think i'll have to get it down enough to switch the injector plugs at least and test a while, and i'm much lazier than i should be :/

you can see the throttle, but only when connected to a laptop and as it's a super intermittent problem i'd have to carry mine in my backpack until i felt it

still need to manually check error codes

Can you post your Bazzaz map?

A slightly richer map around the 0% - mid throttle can lessen engine braking feeling.

Some (like me) like it, some don't
it only automatically tunes down to 3k, i don't want to manually extrapolate lower. and it's not that it's reduced, it's completely broken. before i knew a power cycle fixed it, it would stutter or feel like it was rapidly switching between on and off throttle (like just enough for the injectors to turn on) so there will be spikes of engine braking and a sort of fluttering tone to the exhaust.

with your laptop connected....bike in garage.

Watch TPS reading while you roll throttle and then hold it steady.

if your TPS % varies while you are holding Throttle steady, you have found the prob....

My prob was PC5.....

Map looks ok, no strange numbers.

Do what Tary said above. Put bike on stand, laptop on and hold throttle at various level and see if it correspond with the reading in the software.

Double check your cable connections as well; there might be some loose plug(s).

It's a bit odd that Bazzaz is taking out fuel around 4.5-5k rpm those are generally quite lean from factory.

Another thing I'd suggest is save your MAP, zero everything out and ride it.
If it's behaving normally, then something is wrong with your MAP.

If it's still behaving weird, take out Bazzaz and try again,
If now it's behaving normal, then something wrong with the Bazzaz

If it's still behaving weird, then something is wrong with the bike

DJ asked me to run"zeromap" as a t/s.....

instead I removed pc5 from system, rode it.....no probs.

reinstalled PC5 and checked again on laptop......

IIRC - closed TPS volts s/b between 4.75-5.25 vdc.

on mine it varied even with throttle closed to 0%, fluttering before my eyes, when it should be steady down to x.xx vdc.

No MIL light code? mine threw em at me after a while?

Get shop manual ....? pg 6-25 of 09 shop manual.

SAME PROBLEM with my 07, how did u solved it? sometimes i have no engine brake and some noise from the exhaust (like popo-corn) together. :frown2: help?
