has anyone seen this done before? or is there a simpler way to put a 6 inch rear on a 600, please to educating me, i just picked up a wrecked 600 and im going to throw a 1000rr front end on it, and im thinking if the modification need to put a 1krr swingarm on there is not too large, i would go ahead.

i dont have time to search, im walking out the door, and i know changing parts changes geometry, im not soo concerned, just curious if this is reasonably possibly. thanks

nice sight by the way, and this is my first 600, aside from speed 4 triumphs. im all liter bikes.

Welcome to the best 600rr site on the web. Tons of good info here. Even if you dont have time to search. :)

What do you plan on doing with the bike?

making it black, putting better brakes and suspension on it, putting better rims on it, full tit ex, pc, tune, 520 kit geared down for more top, smooth out the low, thats it. im going to use the 600rr front end on another bike, would like to take that swingarm with it and use the spare 1krr one i have on the 600rr.

the 600rr and the 1000rr have the same brakes from few years and 07+ with radial master will send you over the bars so no need to spend the money braided lines and good pads and you can just about stop as fast as the sub 3 second 0-60 so 0to60& back to 0 in 6 seconds and 09+ have optional abs i have regular non abs bike and stop in under 100 ft doing 100 so unless your trying to stunt and do stoppies im making my 600 140+hp like stock1krr has and in the 1/8th 75% of everything is going to have to catch-up and if my lights on it doesn't matter that they were doing 30 mph faster because they still got there last 👍

Why would you want to do this? Just so you can fit a 6" rim? I'm sure that there are easier ways to fit a larger rim/tire than swaping swingarms.

I just don't see the benefit of it. Sorry.

if you wanna know if it fits, you can either measure between the frame rails and compare that to the width at the swingarm mounts, or take the 600rr swingarm off and measure those mounts compared the the 1000rr. You'll most likely need the linkage for the 1000rr, but the dogbone should fit. Might wanna measure width of those too...

Well, not to sound dickheadish, but if I knew an answer, I'd respond. That said, welcome to the site and gl with your project! Post some pics if you decide to follow through/finish it. Or hell, even post them during the overhaul. We don't care. :icon_salu

its easy enough to creatively slide that chain outwards up to a whole sprockets width safely, and creatively, seen it done plenty of times on euro streetfighters. i mean on super high power applications it needs to be done "properly" but with only 100-115 rwhp you can do it fine with no issues.

so, anyone run a 6 inch rear without massive issues or fabricating/modification complications?

thanks for the info, ill do some measuring and see whats up tomorrow night. i would PREFER to be able to run a 600 swingarm and whack a 6 inch rear in there, but dont know how simple that would be, ill see what i can figure out.

How has it affected handling Highside? Curious if it might slow things down a bit but I imagine your contact patch would be bigger.

Doesn't affect handling if you run 190/55-17, use 190/50-17 and it turns in a little slower. Not really noticable untill you at speed in the twisties. I can tell at the track when I swap the 600 and the 1000 wheels.
