Hi all,
Yesterday I had a weird issue with my CBR.
  • When I turn on the switch the gauge cluster does its thing - but the backlight won't light up
  • The fuel pump doesn't prime
  • The starter turns the engine over fine - but of course the engine doesn't run
  • Main headlight (running light) also doesn't turn on
I checked the fuse box and all fuses are fine. The main 30A fuse near the battery is also good.

I went to work fine, then went to leave: i noticed the gauge cluster going dark and then it wouldn't start (see symptoms above)

I haven't messed with anything electrical lately. Last thing was the Bazzaz that got installed ten months ago and everything has been running well thus far.

I'm stumped. Anyone has an idea of what it might be?

Take 3 measurements:

1. battery voltage with everything off. Volts = ???
2. battery voltage with key ON. volts = ???
3. battery voltage when pushing START button. volts = ???

Battery voltage is good, above 12V and minimal drop with switch in the ON position. Also around 10V when cranking. I can hear the starter motor working fine at its usual speed.

That's marginal, may revisit later. Put battery on trickle charger for now, you want 13.5-13.8v.

next, remove BAS and test according to manual. Measure at ECU connector to verify wiring in between.

What is history of this bike?
How long has it been running well?
What happened or was modified between when it was working and now?
