Trying to diagnose this sound but can't seem to figure it out. Thought it might be a valve tick but the sound goes away in higher RPM's. My best guess is its the cam chain given how the sound disappears at the higher rpm's as the slack is taken out of it. Listened to my buddies 06 and it has the same sound only much quieter. Valves were in spec when I checked around the 24k mark, has about 30k on it now. The mic on a phone isn't the best on picking up the sound but its much louder than whats in the video below.

When my automatic cam chain tensioner started failing, I would have a loud ticking that went up to 5k rpm. It's very noticeable when the bike is cold.

Most likely the tensioner is failing on yours if it has never been replaced. Like the other post above, it is very common. I replaced mine with a manual cam chain tensioner and it's been good for a couple thousand miles now.
