Wrecked bike last year on the left hand side. Cracked stator cover on the very bottom. Ordered a bunch of the parts and went to take off the stator cover and saw a hairline crack above the bottom bolt. Talked to a welder as well as a good friend, going to go with an aluminum epoxy bonding agent. Above that bottom bolt is a brass bolt connected to the crankcase housing. What is this and is it okay to remove to bond the crankcase back together? Thanks for your help.

I cannot at the moment of my particular bike, but here is a diagram and another lower crankcase with it circled in red. Any help would be appreciated.

That's good enough. I have nothing on this and neither does Ronayers.com. Looks like an oil drain back plug or something. Not really sure.

Maybe some kind of drain? Perhaps gently unscrew it and see if it comes out easily. Probably needs some kind of sealant when re-installing.

My luck some kind of spring and ball set would come flying out across the room.

That is the cap for the oil gallery. It links up oil flow from the pump to the filter and oil cooler. There is probably an o-ring seal in behind that will need to be removed otherwise it will get melted when you weld it.
