My 2007 Honda CBR is having performance issues. The bike seems to lag or lose power at around 9k rpm’s. When the clutch is pulled in or the bike is in neutral I can rev the bike to redline. When riding or under a load the bike struggles to get past 9 k. If anyone has any tips or ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Need a little more info to be able to truly help, any mods to the bike? Has anything else changed or been done to the bike recently? You say "seams to lag power" does the RPM still rise but at a slower pace than normal? Did you recently refuel the bike? how long has the bike been acting this way?

With current info I would start with basics, check air filter, maybe get some new fuel if its something that just started happening.

Test and measure fuel-pressure at rail.
Test MAP sensor according to manual's procedure, could be some wiring issue
Measure vacuum at MAP sensor at idle
Measure vacuum at MAP sensor when it's struggling @ 9K-rpms

No mods. I filled up and went for a ride and noticed the exhaust had a funny smell like fuel. So I assumed it may be bad gas. During my ride the bike suddenly felt like it wouldn’t go faster than 100 mph it would stop pulling around 9k. I ran all that fuel out and filled up with fresh gas. It didn’t seem to help. So I decided to change the spark plugs. That didn’t help so I read a bad cam tensioner could cause the issues so I bought an installed a brand new OEM one and still no change. I tried injector cleaner…..I am thinking fuel pump or injectors. Hopefully this info helps

If you're smelling gas in the exhaust it's running much too rich.

That suggests it's out of tune. Sensor is likely culprit but could be leaking injector. Bad gas isn't going to smell any different than good gas and should still be fully combusted by the time it reaches the tail pipe.

Injector cleaner isn't like window cleaner it really only works if you use it consistently, a single application doesn't do all that much.

Test your fuel pressure and flow volume! Those won't cost you anything but time. My hunch is you find the strainer on the fuel pump clogged with old ethanol gas residue. If it is starving the pump of fuel you do not want to ride it.
