Hey fellas i wanted to get some predictions for this years world champ before the season starts. Will be interesting to look back at this thread at the end of the season and see who was right.

Ill start with my predictions for the world championship.

Stoner on the 08 ducati is a safe bet for me. I say he will take another championship this year. Followed by hayden and a real close finish for third between melandri, rossi, and pedrosa. I also see hopkins doing a little better but not much since he is on a new bike.

Dont hate on me for my picks.. i am a die hard rossi fan but after watching stoner dominate last season it is hard for me to not pick him to win. The ducati has way to much power and stoner owns that machine. Now if rossi was still on a honda i would pic him hands down. maybe im wrong and the new 08 m1 has some new tricks up its sleeve and i hope that is the case cause i would like to see rossi take another world championship. But im going to stick with my predictions for stoner taking the win agian this year.

now your turn :)

I am sure Yamaha is going to step up their game from last year. They might have the power they need, but where Ducati owns is the electronics. Rossi is a better rider and I think that with his talent he can make a competitively powered Yamaha compete with the Ducati. While on the topic of Ducati, I think Melandri is gonna shine this year on that bike!

Look out for Honda this year too though. Pedro and Hayden are on all new bikes, and I would definitely look for them up at the front.

My early predictions are:

1st. Melandri
2nd. Rossi
3rd. Pedrosa

if the end of last year (at least for nicky) and the early tests are any indicator, the repsol hondas are gonna be right up there in the thick of it. but as was just said, stoner is an absolute beast on that ducati. im thinkin 1) stoner, 2) hayden, 3) either rossi or melandri

Not to say that he hasn't gotten beat fair and square the past two years, but Rossi has had some bad luck. I'm thinking things will turn around for him this year and he'll lay the smack down again.

Rossi
Melandri
Pedrosa
Hayden

i still dont understand why rossi changed to yahmaha after winning 5 world championships with a honda. i would like to have seen him on a ducati instead but maybe he just wanted to prove his skilz exceed the bike. Which is obvious his skillz do. If im not mistaken there has been only one rider to win a world championship on two makes of bikes. someone tell me who that guys was. i forgot his name i read it somewhere.

If there is anyone else who can do that it would be rossi fo sho. Maybe this is his year. However the way the ducati effortlessly pulls away on the straights it puts even the hondas at a disadvantage. At least this is what i observed last season. I know yahmaha and honda observed this as well and made the changes needed for this season. It will be interesting to watch.

there are 5 riders in the hunt, and it really is up to luck imo who takes it

but , rossi pedrosa stoner 123 in that order
Val will have the M1 running hot this year has regained focus on the title after lastyear..
dani has the front grip problems with mich to contend with , but casey will not be as dominant as last year the straight line power advantage he enjoyed will be less as the big 4 jappas will have the reliability sorted in the 08 motors...

melandrie willcome a close fourth and chris v. as the wild card!

I've noticed not a lot of people saying Nicky will be up there. Man, I hope he is though.
i hope you are right too it will make for a more interesting title fight, but i dont beleive hayden has the same skill set on these 800s as say pedrosa or casey, they ride a little different to him , even val does , maybe its the 2 stroke 250s comming thru... i can see him top 5 but if the hondas are fast tehn dani will be faster than nicky imo..

no one has mentioned jorje... if the M1 is fast then who knows!???

Really hope Hayden pulls it out this year, but I am going to have to say Honda pulls all the tricks out of the bag this year with

Pedrosa finishing first.
Stoner second.
Hayden third.
with Rossi and Melandri at each others throat for fourth.

Now if Rossi was still on a Honda...that would be a different story....

Lets go Hayden!!!!!!!!

i think the split garage will actually be a GOOD thing for Honda, and both factory riders will benefit from it. Jerez testing has them 1st and 2nd in practice.

Pedrosa and Stoner will be top contenders, along with Lorenzo and Hopkins.

The small guys are gonna benefit, especially the ones that were competitive in 250cc.

so in no order, Pedrosa, Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo, and throw in some Nicky Hayden just cuz I like the guy.

1. Rossi
2. Stoner
3. Pedrosa
4. Hayden / Melandri

Rossi is arguably the best rider, Stoner has the most powerful bike - everyone else is going to be third.
