Here is next year's line up so far from crash.net.

The provisional entry list for the 2008 MotoGP World Championship has confirmed that Casey Stoner intends to ride with the #1 plate next season.

The 22-year-old Australian claimed his and Ducati's first premier-class crown wearing the #27, but will - like Nicky Hayden before him - defend the title with the world champion's digit.

The #1 plate was absent from MotoGP from 2001-2005, when champion Valentino Rossi chose to retain his famous #46. The last rider to successfully defend the 500cc/MotoGP world title with the #1 was Mick Doohan in 1998. As expected, Hayden will return to the #69 for 2008.

Stoner's fellow Australian, Chris Vermeulen, will also change his racing number next year - the Rizla Suzuki star switching to a Barry Sheene inspired #7, which was previously taken by Carlos Checa.

Of the four class rookies, double World Superbike champion James Toseland will stick with his familiar #52, while double 250cc champion Jorge Lorenzo will revert to his old #48. Alex de Angelis will run the #3, last used in the class by Max Biaggi, while Andrea Dovizioso has inherited the #4 previously used by Alex Barros.

The entry list also confirms that Team Roberts is yet to secure its MotoGP future, while Ilmor - which disappeared from the grid after the opening round of 2007 - shows no signs of attempting a return. There are thus currently only 18 confirmed riders.

The only new title sponsors to appear on the list are Alice, which has acquired the naming rights for d'Antin Ducati, and Scot, which has merged with JiR to run Dovizioso.

The full provisional 2008 MotoGP entry list can be seen below:

Idon't understand how a company such as Mich's could produce a tire that only last half of a race. There's to much money and technolagy involved with Mich's.

The reason why it seemed thier tires were so bad is because of Data collection. For years Mich would make thier tires over night with special machines. They would make them according to data that they had recieved from the weekened practice sessions. Then on race day they would have the perfect tire. As were B stone took all the info they could and choose the best tire they could out of the ones they brought. And now Mich can no longer do that and thier data is not up to date. Give them some time. I bet they make a turn around. Or they might just do the french thing and give up.

Lorenzo bears watching. If the french rubber is competetive, I bet he's giving Rossi inspitration to pick up the pace by mid season.

Pedrosa can ride. If honda gives him the right package...

Stoner is awesome and will still be a contender. Melandri is no slouch.

Lets hope to see some actual racing this year with few runaways and lots of corner stuffin'

Ummm why ?

He is the world champ and deserves to wear it, Hayden did it so why not Casey.
Of course he deserves to wear it but, everyone that put that number one plate in the last few years had his next season all f**ked up! I mean remember Hayden?! Remember Troy Bayliss?! Remember James Toseland?! Remember Carl Fogarty?! It's just the way it is... I'll not be at all surprised if Stoner doesn't manage to finish half the races... Don't get me wrong guys I sure do love a champion, especially one that kicked Vale's butt! :icon_lol: We'll see soon enough...

I'm hoping to see great things from melandri. That kid can ride! Hopefully he'll get used to the Duc and be right up there with Stoner, Pedrosa. Hopefully Nicky can pull something together in 08' as well.
