I am looking to replace my stock exhaust on a budget and it looks like it is one piece from the header pipe onwards.
Haven't had much luck looking up solutions to my problem on Reddit, Google or here.
So my question is what parts do I need? I am looking on eBay or Aliexpress and I can see exhausts (mufflers) for around $50 but if I understand correctly I will also need to buy a mid-pipe(?) or a link-pipe(?). Just looking at this link, I feel like this pipe would be way too short to go with something like this slip-on. There seems to be another pipe there in the middle that is the missing link.
Headers go into the cat.
Midpipe goes from the cat to the muffler.
Muffler goes from the midpipe to the rear of your bike.
I've not replaced one on this model year but earlier RRs had the muffler welded to the mid pipe. I think yours does too.
If you want to just buy a cheap muffler use a hacksaw and saw off the stock one from your midpipe and slide on your new one. They usually come with a compression clamp to keep them on, and/or tension springs. Make sure you have a good tight connection as they will work their way off over time. That's why the springs are better. They stop the muffler from working its way off.

Thanks mate and appreciate the detailed reply. I am definitely leaning towards your suggestion with cutting the stock midpipe. What I am wondering is if you know the diameter of the stock midpipe? There are stock muffler options anywhere from 38mm to 61mm. I tried to size up the outer diameter by wrapping a measuring tape around and it came out to around 60. I have no clue about the thickness and wondering if that would take the inner diameter down to 51mm which is the type of muffler I should buy or I should buy a 61mm muffler.
Of course, this is all contingent on the muffler goes inside the midpipe or it wraps around it? I have seen a few videos and some wrap and some go inside.
Every slip on I've ever installed (and I've done many) have had the muffler go over the exhaust pipe (there's not always a mid pipe as prior to about 08 bikes did not have cats and so the headers went directly to the muffler). If the muffler went in the pipe you'd have potential leakage issues at the seam.
Here's a cheap way to avoid having to hack your pipe apart:

Looks like the L shaped pipe will go from your cat to the rear. There it will connect to the more Z shaped pipe (note that at each connection the inside pipe is the one closer to the headers. Think of exhaust flow like water. You always want the flow pipe inside the receiving pipe or pressure would push some out at the seam.)
Z shaped pipe goes up under the seat where it will connect to your muffler (you can see the loops for the springs that will hold on your muffler). Not bad for less than $50.
This same setup is available on Amazon. At least in the U.S.
