This problem starterd a few weeks ago, it only happens when its extremely hot outside, i live in Arizona, its usually 110 everyday. the problem usually starts when the bike is above 200f. So when riding i have a top speed of about 87 mph until i turn the bike off and restart it, i usually do that and just hold the clutch in and keep it rolling, then the bike acts normal for a few minutes and then it goes back to a top speed of 87 mph and 8.5 k rev limit and usually over the next 5-10 mins the performance continues to decrese til i have a top speed of 27 mph and maybe 4.5 k rev limiter and thats when i feel like blowing the bike up. I just changed spark plugs, which did not fix nor cause the problem. I have 29k miles on the bike, as well as a power commander, the problem started before the power commander as well. From what i read on the site, its either a rectifier problem or a fuel pump issue.

can someone please help

Remap the power commander --> even better pull it off. If that works, then you have found your problem.

i forgot to mention that, i thought the problem started before the power commander but wasn't 100% so i took it off and tried, the problem is still there unfortunately

I'd say fuel pump. I'd guess the pressure sensor going out and only when you restart your bike... the pump primes up only cause it always primes when you turn it on.

is there a way i can test the fuel pump to see if that is what has gone bad, i rather not waste X amount of dollars on a new one and that not be the problem. thanks

Yes, there is a pressure and a flow test. I'll have to look in the manual when I get home to give you the numbers. But its something like 50 psi fuel pressure and 5.6 oz. of flow in 10 seconds.

after thinking about what you said, it doesnt make sense that the fuel pump would be causing the problem since it only happens when its extremely hot, i took the bike out late last night, when it was only about 90 outside (lol that's as cool as it gets here at night) and the problem wasn't there. the temp on the gauge didn't read above 190 the problem i noticed only occurs when the gauge reads about 215 or higher. Or if the temp goes over 215 and then cools off under that, the problem still occurs when its under 215 it seems like once it goes over that temp, whatever the problem is triggers and doesn't go away til the bike is turned off and back on. and even when i do that as soon as it hits 215 the problem comes right back and performance steadily decreases. sorry if its confusing

well i ordered a fuel pump on ebay for 35 bucks shipped hopefully that solves it i'll let you know
