Where does it say that it's going to come out in 2006? If it's in the $25,000 range I'll buy it.

Goto Ducati.com and click the Desmosedici RR link. Then once you have that open, click the event link. It says on the second page of the event section that they are going to deliver the first Desmo RR at the 2006 World Ducati Week.

I take that back. I wish it's only $15,000 - $18,000 only. Please!!!

Ducati became the first factory to unveil plans to launch a street version of their MotoGP prototype in a shock announcement which provided an exciting climax to World Ducati Week.

Ducati Motor Holding President and Managing Director Federico Minoli appeared on stage to deliver the news to the thousands of fans celebrating their allegiance to the Italian factory in the paddock of the Misano racetrack, promising that the first units of the exclusive machine, estimated to cost around 50,000 euros, will be available in Spring 2006.

The Ducati Desmosedici RR will feature the unique steel tubing trellis frame and carbon fibre fairing of the MotoGP machine and will boast similar aerodynamics designed by Alan Jenkins, creator of the Grand Prix racer’s sleek look.

The limited edition bike will be powered by the same L-shaped four-cylinder 989cc engine as its MotoGP forefather, with four valves per cylinder and the two cam shafts per cylinder bank driven by gears, as well as a sand-cast aluminium alloy crankcase and cylinder heads, titanium con-rods and valves, plus magnesium engine covers.

“This is an important occasion, a historical announcement, yet another dream come true,” commented Minoli, who was joined on stage by Claudio Domenicali (Managing Director, Ducati Race Division) and Gianluigi Mengoli (Technical Director, Ducati Motor Holding), with MotoGP riders Loris Capirossi and Troy Bayliss watching on.

“The Desmosedici RR is the maximum that Ducati technology has to offer, in line with the tradition of every motorcycle we produce, from race to road bikes. We are pleased to face such a challenge which, even if it is only a limited number of bikes, will be the dream of Ducati fans.”

The first version of the Desmosedici RR is set to be officially unveiled during World Ducati Week 2006.

I would rather spend $60k on something like that instead of $60k on a chopper that doesnt have any special technology and will vibrate apart after 400 miles...
