Hey guys,

just came back from a three week trip to thailand only to find someone tried to steal the bike or at least parts from it.

I talked to statefarm and they asked me to take it to a shop to get an estimate. I am going to list the damages (from what I can see) below. I am trying to see if there is any chance they will total it and how much you guys think the repair would cost at a stealership.

It is a 2005 600RR.

Damages (from what i can see, not actual estimate):

1. Left clipon assembly completely missing
2. Right clipon assembly partially missing.
3. All steel cables running to the clipons have been cut
4. Wire harness to the headlights and clipons have been cut
5. Missing speedometer/tachometer display
6. left ram air tube cover destroyed
7. broken snaps on the tank cover
8. damage to the left fork.
9. both mirrors are missing. Possible damage to the upper fairing.

The rest of the bike is very intact. They didn't manage to really take the bike (i don't know exactly what happened) but did a serious number on the bike.

I am so pissed. I dont even want the bike back anymore (not unless it was a buy back from the insurance company for dirt cheap). I hope they just total it.

what do you guys think it'd cost to get her up and running? Please take into account the parts cost and also cost of labor at a stealership. One of the local shops quoted $100/hour. I think ill go there :D. Thanks.

wow, that really sucks. ******* thieves.....anyways that seems like quite a bit of damage. obviously I can't tell for sure, but if you were to purchase all brand new oem parts like new forks, gas tank cover, mirrors, clip on, wiring and controls, cables, gauge cluster, I would say probably $800 - $1500. also there might be damage you haven't seen yet, like other wiring such as damage to the harnesses from them being clipped or pulled out. I'm sure you can find parts for cheap on ebay, but you'll want new oem parts, which are more expensive. you should have the bike looked at just in case there is other damage you didn't see.

Im thinking btw 1-2k as I am sure the scratch paint and needs to be replaced on top of all the mention^^^. $100 is really really expensive... but again you are trying to get it totaled out correct? Well keep in mind that the damage as to exceed 70% of the market value for the bike. Idk what your local pricing are but for example the value is considered $4800 (mine is a 04 and was valued $4630 by statefarm w/o consideration of add-ons) anyways your damage needs to meet or exceed $3300 and sum change. Take it to get inspected and check for more wiring damage as I would expect there to be more damage. They took the gauge cluster so did the rip the nose fairing?:retard: I would imagine sooo. And since wires were left hanging you may shortages in other components. GL

Glad it wasnt stolen.

Lame.
Sounds like you'll be riding an '07-'08 soon to me.
Always have a dealer do the estimate. Make sure to list any add-ons that are missing or damaged.
Good luck.
Make sure to let us know what the new bike is gonna be, because I bet yours will be totaled.

Haness 400 dollars
You said all steel cabled? throttle, and clutch cables, about 100 dollars,

switch gear on both left, and right handle bars (as the shop should just replace every thing not knowing whats cut) about 300 dollars.

guage cluster 681 dollars.

tube cover and tank, about 600 dollars.

left fork, 580 dollars.

mirrors, 75 each, or 150 bucks

total of == 2811 dollars, before labor.

sheesh

hahahaha so the stealership came back with an estimate of 6800 bucks and some change.

Sf totaled the bike and offered a little less than 5k but i had a $1000 deductible so that means I get just 4k back.

I am trying to find quotes for 05 600RRs that i can use to get them to give me a little more $$

Can you guys point me in the right direction?

Are they not going to use the KBB or Nada amount of how much it's worth??? I have never had a vehicle totaled so I'm not sure how it works. A '05 600rr is going to have a KBB right around 5K if not less though.

Hey guys,

so forward 8-9 months (im lazy) and this is where it stands:

I bought the bike originally for $6500 four years ago with only 400 miles on it.

Right now the insurance company is willing to give me $6000 (4 years and 10k miles later mind you). My dumba$s also remembered my very high deductible of $1000. So if I let go of the bike I will get $5000 back. If I decide to keep it they will sell it to me for $1000. I will be left with a bike that needs some fixing and $4k.

what should I do? Let it go? or buy it back for $1000? The bike is in very good condition mechanically.

I just got my 08 Graffitti for 5k with 14k miles and it has all the little accessories too in great condition. I would shop around and see what fits your wants best. But 4k could make that 05 pretty sweet with some work.

Buy it back for 1000 and Part it out. :) You will make an easy 1000.00 which will pay your deductible. Then you can get whatever you want.

well I wouldnt put in the whole 4k into the bike. Maybe 1k to just get it up and running.

a lot has changed in my life and I wouldnt really buy a new bike if this one left my hands. I figure if I took the buy back option I would still get to keep a bike and also get 4k back.

I also have a brand new set of fairings waiting to be put on.

I would say take the money and get a new 07-up RR, but thats just me. Even my 06 seems old, phat, and heavy to me compared to the newer CBR's.

But its up to you. If you're comfortable buying it back for $1k and fix it up yourself while pocketing some money, go for it.
