I dont have a bike stand or anything but automotive stuff such as jacks and jack stands is there an alternative?

I need to take the rims of the bike for some pilot powers.

Actually, I'm looking for this also. I'd like to get a front and rear stand. They don't have to match, obviously, but it'd be nice if they did. Don't want to go super expensive, but they need to be good stands. What do you guys use to work on your RR?

I have a Pit Bull rear stand... Its super rugged.
Install swing arm spools on the rear
for it to hook up.
I found the stand used on ebay !
see this http://www.pit-bull.com/

Get a stem stand for the front. I have a fork stand type
and its limiting for fork work. The stem stand inserts inside
the steering head. The fork stand type inserts into the bottom
of both forks.

spools are a more positive connection to the stand...
plus they add a small level of crash protection.

the other type just rests on the bottom of the swing arm and
can scratch it and also its possible to have it slip.
Some old bikes dont have drill outs for the spools.
later model CBRs all have them.

read this one from Tripage, he briefly talks about an inexpensive way to put your bike on jack stands by using the rearset holes with bolts to stand on your jackstands. Tripage is knowin!

Stands would always be a good investment, got my pitbull swingarm stand for just under $100.
