2004 600rr basically all stock.. no alarm etc

kinda new to fixing the bike.. i always left it to 'trained' mechanics when dealing with two wheels but this is frustrating me..

never taken anything apart on this bike except to change the oil.. but i lowsided in december on some wet raised crosswalk paint going about 20mph.. busted a couple things up but all cosmetic, so i just waited for the BAS to reset and started it up, rode her home.. anyway its basically been sitting ever since.. just cleaned her up and all that so i can take it down to the shop and have em give it the once over.. but..

key in..
kill switch in on position (for you guys who think everyone's incredibly dumb ;))..
in neutral (or in gear holding the clutch)..
kickstand up..
fuel pump turns on..
cranks.. and theres air coming out of the exhaust so the motor is turning..
but no start..

bought a new battery.. same thing.. oh and running start at 8mph doesnt work.. it tries for a second or two but no start

where do i check all the fuses and stuff i dont have abook and ive never seen where they're located.. or if you guys have any ideas.. im all ears.. but please be descriptive cuz i dunno where everything is located.. im gonna try plugging the airducts with some towels in case its flooded by now.. probably wont work though ;p

Hold the throttle wide open and try to start it give it a few trials
make sure the battery is fully charged before you try that process
best of luck and keep us updated

First post... What do you mean another one wont start? If you searched you must have seen what moeman suggested. Sorry for the rant just tired of seeing "another one wont start".

Moeman is probably right. It is flooded. Mine flooded after sitting for a while also.

first post.. ive been on here for about a year just never posted..

'another' referred to all the other posts of people having similar problems,

i have searched quite a bit.. just nothing exactly like mine, like i said the fuel pump does turn on.. i think im gonna change the oil tomorrow and when i get in there i'll look at the spark plugs..

i got two batteries now, charging em between attempts cuz you only get a good 6 or 7 tries before it doesnt have enough power.. what i really wanted i guess is a location of all the stuff that could cause it to attempt to start just not actually run .. fuses, sensors, plugs all thats good info i just dunno how to go about looking for all those things cuz like i said im a newbie to bike mechanics.. thanks for the help.. going to give it another try right now..

There is no such thing as a stupid question. If you don't know ask (or use the search function). I am glad it is running again.

Good to hear but next time make sure you put some fuel stabilizer in the tank and run it through before you store it that long again. Old fuel causes big headaches.

fuel stabilizer eh? never heard of it..

if i hadnt laid it down i would've been starting it and riding it any chance the sun would give me, but i thought something on the frontend was offline cuz it made sounds like the front brakes were rubbing a bit much on the way home from the incident, so i wanted to get it checked out before i rode again, turns out it must've mostly been in my head after the get off, i guess i still should've started it over the winter.. just got lazy..

ahh well, rode it yesterday.. very lovely.. now if i can just figure out what i wanna do about this lame ass broken-off-the-inside-threading-barend ;/
