Yes, the military uses similar technology (I'm in the Army Reserve, and have used them). No, you won't get that type of quality with currently available ones. I've researched and used commercially available throat mics for a few years, and none of them perform well enough for me to use on a regular basis, either on the bike or off.

Save your money!!! them things suck!!! We bought some and tried them out with our FRS radios and pretty much sounded like everyone had a mouth full of loaded monkey ballz!!!!!


If your gonna use a CB instead of FRS I can give you a link for a great headset off of ebay that I use and it works great! Even when I use it with my open face helmet on my cruiser and the wind is blowing into the mic it still works great.
It's made for a 4 pin CB connection usually found on Cobra,Uniden and I think Maxxon uses a 4 pin too.
But if your useing FRS radios you need to look for something better.
