Aprilia will return to the MotoGP™ World Championship as a factory entrant in 2016, it has been announced by parent company Piaggio.

The news came on Tuesday during the EICMA bike show in Italy.

“In 2016, Aprilia will return to MotoGP™ with the goal of winning and discovering the same success we have enjoyed in World Superbikes,” comments Roberto Colaninno, CEO of Piaggio. “

The Italian marque was last part of the World Championship as a factory team in 2004.

Exactly, Kawi hasn't announced anything yet, but with the way they are performing in WSBK, they should pull their socks up and announce their return soon.

BMW, can't really tell what their strategic perspective on the matter is, pull out of WSBK and enter MotoGP, or is it 'we showed the world what our bike can do, we don't need to do anything else........?'
