I posted this in the gloves/boots etc. forum but i wasnt sure if that was the right place. Reguardless, i got no replys and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

I Just got some new nelson rigg luggage and i was wondering what everyone did to keep the paint from scratching.

I got this tank bag http://www.nelsonrigg.com/store/product.aspx?pid=1646
and These saddle bags http://www.nelsonrigg.com/store/product.aspx?pid=459.

I saw a video of a guy that used felt under the saddle bags and ive also seen a website recommend that rubbery stuff you put in the bottom of your tool box. I feel that felt could still scratch the paint over time? I have a black 09 RR so any scratches show no matter how small. I was also thinking about cutting up micro fiber cloth.. thoughts? If you need pictures of my current setup for suggestions i can get those on here.

Any advice would be great.

ive never had a problem with scratching with the tail bag, if you want, put a shammy under it, friend does that, and cleans his visor with it...

I have put blue tape on my tail and it stops the scratches. I have black also and I know how easy it will scratch. With black any sort of rubbing motion even if it is something really soft will scratch it. It only gets worse the longer you ride since road grime will get between the paint and the cloth.

I now use a film that is temporary. Its cheaper than blue tape and it doesn't matter if dirt gets between the bags and the body because it won't rub the paint. I just put it on right before I use the bags and then take it off when I am done.
