This is my cousin's 2007 Honda 600RR. He bought it about 3 months ago (bought NEW from dealer). I and he take time together modifying it but I don't drive it. Anyways, he parks the bike at my parent's place because there is a gargage there. My cousin work out of town a month at a time...and I don't drive his bike. Well, my dad has been starting it every 3 days or so for like 5 mins then shut it down...he said he was doing it because he thought the bike sits idle too long is not good (bad..but he didn't know).
Last thing we did was installing the Yoyodyne slipper clutch and Woodcraft stator cover. He didn't test drive it after the install because we wanted to let it sit a day or so for the liquid gasket to dry. Well I work out of town so I'm gone the next day and he went to work out of state for like a month. So basically the bike sat there at my parent's place. Anyways, now I get back and tried to start it, it won't fire up. I can hear the starter going, fuel pump priming etc. but engine will not fire up. I tried to start in neutral, clutch pressed etc..no go..checked kill switch etc...My dad said he didn't start the bike since we last installed the Yoyodyne because he was on vacation (true).

I thought it was something wrong with the slipper clutch (installing wrong) but I don't think so. I can shift into gears fine. We have been very careful putting the Yoyodyne in. If I tried starting in gear, the rear wheel moves (on center stand), in 1st gear or 5 gear...I really don't think it's the clutch install...I didn't even unplug the sensor wire...I just had him hold it while I install the clutch so no connection is unplugged.

What's going on? Is it because starting the bike up cold for a min or so then shut down causing the spark plug to foul up ? What else can go wrong? What should I do to fix this problem? Please help...thank you.

Is the sensor installed right? It's a common occurrence for the sensor to go in wrong after having the cover off.

Hey man...I dont know if this will help you too much but....this is out of the service man. Maybe you can trouble shoot it with this info.

Is the sensor installed right? It's a common occurrence for the sensor to go in wrong after having the cover off.

Sensor on the stator cover? Anyone has a pic of the "right" way to the sensor supposed to be? I'm so frustrated right now :(

Here is a pic of that too.......^^^^^....... It is very easy to mess up and put this back on "backwards"..the 2 bolt holes match up both ways, check and see if it is faceing the wrong way in the clutch cover

Thanks for all your help. I don't believe it's the stator side now since there is no sensor on the stator side but the coil..it can only go in one way. I did remember unbolting the CKP sensor on the clutch side because I didn't want to remove the mid cowl & unplug the connector there...there is a posibility that it might be on backwards...gosh I sincerely hope so. I will waste this weekend to check it out...clutch cover re-assembly was a major pain (read the how to change out slipper clutch by Rackleford) and I had fun like 3 hours just to put the cover back on. But now I'm hoping that the sensor is backwards..at least this will be "less fun" than diggin into the sparkplug or fuel injectors...pray for me guys!!!!!

PS. Cousin is still working out of state so it'll be me fixing his bike now..lucky guy. But we are like brothers so I don't mind.

Found the actual photo of the CKP sensor in the service manual (on page 18-7) if someone is wondering. Now it's a matter of unbolt, take all the locktite off bolts, take all the liquid gasket off cover (pain, pain), clean up all oil on cover edges, fix sensor orientation (hope it's backwards), then reassemble the cover (pain pain pain) and pray it'll start up. Man I'll have a heart attack if I open this thing up and the sensor is in correctly. :)

Okay guys, fixed the problem. You guys rocks. It was indeed the backward CKP sensor. The sensor was mounted up side down, the wire was exposing and got chewed up to the bare wire by the gears...I was going to buy a new sensor but of coruse, they don't have it in stock so I decided to solder it back, applied liquid gasket as a shield, then cut a small fuse hose and wrapped around...after the liquid gasket dry, it should shold the rubber hose and shield..hopefully it'll work. I'll swap the sensor out with new one whenever I replace the clutch.

Anyways, bike fire up on first try like before..my cousin old me BIG TIME now....thanks a lot for all of your help guys.
