well, this is the latest update on my charging system problem. got it back from the shop 3-4 weeks ago and it's been raining/cold here in northern california since then so I finally got in my 4th or 5th day on the bike today. the bad news is that the bike is still doing the same thing, and it seems to take 4-6 days worth of riding before the battery dies. I called the shop today and talked to the service manager and he said he would get me copies of all the work he has done. He knew I was not bringing it back to him because I told him before he fixed it last time it was his last chance.

Honda was closed today so I will be calling them friday to tell them nicely they will be taking my bike back. it's been in the shop 5 times already and I'm not bringing it back for attempt number six since no one has a clue what the problem is. My only tough decision is where I'm gonna go from here. I have the black model and I really dont like the new 2004 schemes but I will take one I guess if I decide to stick with a 600. I may look into one of the new liter bikes though. any thoughts?

I think the 04' R1's look SICK! I just wouldn't wanta wait for an 04' to come out! I'd probably go buy another Black 03' RR or an 03 R1 as soon as I took back the other RR. But I have no patients! And although I'm pretty sure your bike was a lemon, I bet you feel kinda fearful about buying the same bike again...even though it's likely the others work great. :? Let us know whatever you decided! And Have a happy new year! :D

I really have no problems with honda nor would I avoid them in the future. I still think Honda makes the best quality bikes i think i was just the unlucky sap that got stuck with a defective one. To this point I have been treated well by the dealership which I will purchase my next bike from (they sell all four manufacturers) and I will give honda every chance to make this right. The best thing that could happen is that they agree to take it back but I'm able to hang onto it for another month or so then I wont be without a bike to long before the new models come out and I can then see them in person and decide. It will be hard to buy anything other than another 600rr or possible the new 1000rr, but I agree that new r1 looks nice, I sat on it at the show in San Mateo. wish they would have had the 1000rr set up so you could sit on it, not up on a pedastal that was roped off. I will keep you guys updated.

Don't hold your breath for the '04s just yet. More than likely they will be delayed just like the 600rr's were.
