Yes Im a newb but Im not talking about myself. My cousin recently bought an 05rr and he came over today and we were both riding together. He was in front of me and we were on a quiet street. He was starting from a stop and the bike leaned over to the point where he couldnt lift it on his own so he tried to prevent it from falling with force. Honestly he was maybe only going 3mph if not less. He pretty much set it down. We got the bike up. The first attempt to start it was rough...we heard the fuel pump working but no good start. The attempts after that were worse. I figured while battery power is still good let me do the procedure for flooded engines. I tried that for like 10 seconds but the bike wouldnt start and then the power just gradually died down.

I took his battery out and put it on charge. But what else could it be? I mean the procedure for flooded engine didnt work so now what?

Probably the tip over switch. Shake the bike side to side and bounce it on its suspension a bit. Throw the charged battery back in and give it a go.

I believe there is a way to clear the computer after this has happened. I believe if you turn the key of and on a few times it will do the trick. Hopefully someone like KS can come in here and help you out. That guy pretty much has all the answers!!

lets hope so....my cousin is shitting bricks thinking he ruined his bike lol. Im sure he didnt. My guess is that the spark plugs may be soaked?

I just let mine sit a minute with the key off. Turned the key on and it fired up kinda rough, so I gave it some gas and it was fine. As for flooding it, I dont think it would have been since its fuel injected. Except when you tried to start it with the throttle pined, that could of flooded it

If you hold the throttle wide open you wont foul the plugs or flood the engine
why cause the injectors are not repeatedly spitting fuel this is the only way
to start the bike if its acting rough upon start up
It usually takes a few trials to get the bike going so make sure the battery is fully charged before you start

10 4. I always thought you pinned the throttle on a flooded bike to start it cause it brings in more air so it can ignite all the fuel. I guess thats only for carbed vehicles. Thanks for the info

did a quick charge to the battery and his bike fired right up. So thats solved but I'd still like to know why this happens when a bike falls for my own knowledge.

You killed the battery trying to start the bike & the on and off of the throttle
flooded the engine the time it took to charge the battery helped the extra fuel
to dry out :icon_lol: then the bike started playing its music again :fiddy::fiddy:

haha he has a akra slip on; definitely nice music! but its not like the battery instantly died. The first time the engine struggled to turn on and I gave extra gas but it didnt help. Then it just got weaker from then on. What could I have done differently to avoid this? Im trying to garner as much info as possible as a new rider in the event that something like this should happen to me.

btw it was such a mission bringing this bike up my street which is literally a 45* slope maybe a bit less.

When the bike was laid over the Bank angle sensor did its job **Triggered the Fuel pump to stop pumping Fuel to the injectors **

What you have to do after you pick up the bike you got to reset the Bank angle sensor
either you turn the key on and off a few times or you simply let the bike sit a few minutes

When you tried to start it and roll on the throttle that 1. flooded the engine
2. Multiple attempts to start it drained the battery & killed it eventually

To avoid this from happening next time let the bike sit for a few minutes & do not roll on and off the throttle while attempting to start it

Just FYI If you stop for a red light and your fan comes on temp gets to
220 F or so & your high beam is on turn the high beam off until you start
moving again Why ? The fan sucks a lot of battery juice to cool off the
bike so turning off the high beam will decrease the work load on the battery

If for some reason while taking off the bike dies you will notice that the bike might not start right away don't force it like you did with your bud's bike
shut the bike off pull over to the shoulder and let the bike sit for a few minutes then start it & it will start right away
