04'CBR 600RR

Ok went for a spin yesterday and bike was running great
Bike has been starting and stopping with no issues for weeks with no mods done for a while except from an exhaust change
Now it wonts start but will go with a quick jump start or bump in 2nd

Turn Key and primes and does the test with the guage ...start her up..
and nothing ..dead
Then Hiss Activates (blinks red)
I like to leave it off all the time
So need to press ADJ to switch off

Tried the Volt meter on the battery and reads 11.99 with everything off and key at off position

Currently checking fuses under seat
Yellow 20A is fine
Ii see a 30A next to red plug in a rubber mount is this a spare or connected
Red plug how do you get it off as I press the levers at both sides and wont lift off?

Any help please as the battery is a Gel and less than a year old

Also after the run in which I did, the bike is now round my backgarden and has sat for an hour or so
Now the exhaust is cold but the engine casing on the right is still warm to touch, normal???

While I am trying to find the issue...

Anyone?

When touching the battery positive I hear and feel a click coming from the battery side when trying to start..
Some sort of relay around that area?

Ok still no answers or replies...
Left on trickle during the night and while that was doing that I disconnected the unit at the seat with the 30A (red plug) gave it a good old brushing and clean and popped it back in...
This morning put it all together now ...
Turn the key the bike starts to tick over but no start?
Getting more than last time though
Last time it was turn key and nothing, this time start key and tries to kick in...
Battery?, rectifer?, relays?

If you hit the starter and you hear a clicking noise (relay clicking) it normally means you are out of battery...

Have you tried changing it or checking it for faults??

What does the battery read with the volt meter hooked up and then having someone try to start it? I don't think it is the rectifier.

Anyway you can swap in a friends battery to start the process of elimination?

Battery is at 12.36 Volts just now while on Trickle
Should go to 14v am I right when fully charged?
Battery is less than 8 months old (gel)

I read someone on here put up Voltages for different stages to check but cant seem to find it if anyone could post a link or paste them here please.
Also been told that the battery starts charging above 5K revs is this true?

Do you think any of the following are issues
crank position sensor, Relays (if so where)

Key out: mid-high 12
Key on: low 12
Cranking: I've seen mine drop to mid 11s
Idling: high 12/low 13
Revving past 4k: low-mid 14s

That's about what I can remember off the top of my head without being too accurate.

Ok, now been on Trickle for a good few hours.. bike has now started?
Now what the hell is draining it or isnt the battery charging properly?

What I have done:
Took out the Yellow 20A Fuse under seat
Red Plug loosened and taken out the black plug with 30A
Given Both of these a good clean as well as ordering a New Starter Relay Solenoid just incase

Removed and cleaned Kickstand switch...
Checked all fuses, all good!

Video of whats happening with voltage at Battery

Damn that looks awful. Since you have the thing apart, check the output of your alternator. I don't know where the plug is on the CBRs so hopefully someone else here might chime in to the location. The alternator has 3 phases and you should be getting at least 40-50v AC between each of the 3 phases (1-2, 2-3, 1-3) at 4k or above RPM. Then for good measure, switch the meter to continuity and look for shorts between each of the 3 phases, and each phase to ground; you should have none. If the alternator checks out, and you're sure the battery is good, then it's the regulator/rectifier that's taken a sh!t and could have taken the battery with it.

Well one problem down...

Now check alternator... regulator rectifier...

And check if you have any accesories that might be draining your battery (alarm or any accesory that might be receiving power when the bike's key hasn't been turned)

Have this type of R/R and have just posted a new thread on anyone that knows on how to upgrade and check for faults on this as I am not sure and would like other users to know the solution if possible also if you could help

Also where are all the Earth connections on frame on the bike if anyone can mention.

Thanks

After waiting for a reply I decided to clean a lot of fuses and contacts etc.. as well as the R/R
Now this video shows what I am getting now, any better?
As its just on the Battery voltage again...
Have ordered a new relay under the seat as this ones a bit corroded but seems fine, better to be safe.
Voltage at start was 12.69 on battery but not fully charged ...

15 Mins in a Shed/Garage and then fan comes on with a few revs, normal?

That definitely looks a lot better. I mean before you were dropping down to 5 volts. The fan issue is fine. 106 C= 222F and my fan kicks in at 221F or 105C. Remember idling+revving the engine without moving means the engine will get hot. You don't have air flowing around the bike to cool it so temps elevate quicker. One of the hardest cycles on an engine is just sitting there and idling so it is to be expected.

Fan should start only according to engine temperature.. Not time!

If I remember well from my former 03 it should turn on at 104ºC
