well, this morning, i was on the way to the gas station, ( good thing) and my last bar on the guage wasnt flashing, and the bike started to sputter, and die. luckily i ran out of gas about 200 ft from the gas station, so i just coasted in. but i had put in 3.00$ the day b4,and i was almost on reserve, so about a gallon, went to davis, which is about 25 -30 miles away, and came back, and it wasnt flashing. so i rode around a lil more. and this morning, it dies.. put in one more gallon, so ive just filled the reserve.. and the light still isnt flashing. so on lunch, i put just over 3 gallons in it, and the guage works, but im wondering if my reserve switch in my tank is working.. anybody have any other problems like this??

check the float in the tank that happend to me and NewRedRider told me to check that out and that was my problem it was an easy fix it, yours just might be stuck as well

First light a match to look inside the tank and then just hit it with a stick to loosen it.

My friend with an 05 has this problem, he's experienced it since he started doing wheelies. I have the same year bike, bought at the same time from the same stealership and I've had no issues with it.

so what's the deal, when you're on your last bar & ride some more the last bar will start flashing? once i'm on the last bar, i try & fill up right away. i'd like to know when you'd know you're running on fumes. i have an 06, what's the orange line on the gauge? sorry, i'm sure the answers are on some thread somewhere but, the questions i have seem relevant to this thread. thanks.

yeah, when your on the last bar, when you are close to riding on the reserve, your last orange/red bar starts to flash.. i guess that i will just need to fill up when it hits the last bar now.. anybody know how to fix it? just so i can try it..lol. i kinda liked when it told me that i was about to run out.. comforting u know?lol

First, see if the float is actually stuck or hanging on something in the tank. It may need to be adjusted which would be under warranty.

The flashing bar on an 03/04 means that you have .96 or so gallons left in your tank. Check your instruction manual and it will tell you how many gallons left when it starts to flash.

Lol, yea I stereotyped you based on your location and choice of cars. I didn't mean any harm by it, but my friend is Filipino and has THE EXACT make and model of cars & bike, but he lives in Chicago, which is prety weird...

Had this exact same problem with my bike. '05 version. I took it to the local dealer and they did the repair under warranty. It turns out I had a faulty fuel pump and the reserve sensors are on that part. Something like that, don't remember it specificallly.

Take it to the dealer if you are within warranty. Get it fixed. I ran out of gas twice. That was enough.

Had the same problem yesterday morning. If you were on 5 south (north could probably see me too) at around Pocket (south sacramento edge, north elk grove area) you would have seen me on the left median staring at my stupid bike.

I guess it was my fault though, since the trip meter was reading 185 and I was trying to make it another 5 miles and was thinking "hmm, getting good mileage this tank and the last bar ain't flashing yet."
